WHERE: Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, Nassau, Bahamas
THIS GAME WILL DETERMINE
Who came to vacation and who came to win a ball game. Both teams got to experience paradise in the midst of the holidays but there is still a game to play. UAB has a chance to cap its historic season with a program-best ninth win. Not to mention the recruiting buzz it creates.
THREE THINGS TO LOOK FOR
**Spencer Brown goes for conference record. The true freshman running back has rushed for 1,292 yards on the season and is 97 yards shy of breaking the C-USA freshman rushing record set by Damien Fletcher of Southern Miss in 2006. Brown has topped the century mark six times this season with four games of more than 150 rushing yards, including a 209 yard performance against Southern Miss.
**Nathan Rourke. Ohio's sophomore quarterback is a native of Canada but played his senior year of high school at Edgewood Academy in Alabama. Rourke was the last starting quarterback for the Edgewood dynasty that included eight AISA state titles and a 71-game winning streak that hit its peak in the 2015 title game with Rourke winning a championship for the Wildcats.
**Impressive games from those who stayed throughout the process. The Blazers honored their seniors a month ago but this will be the final game for players who held the rope through shutdown, reinstatement and two years of practices. Clark will keep their minds focused on the task at hand but emotions will serve to inspire some special moments on the field.
KEY MATCHUP
UAB's front seven vs Ohio's run game. The Bobcats have intentions on establishing the run early and the Blazers are tasked with stopping one of the best rushing offenses in the country. The defensive line will need to disrupt the gaps in the offensive line and allow Tevin Crews and Shaq Jones to explore the lanes and bring down ball carriers at the point of attack.
