as some of you know or can tell, i am a die-hard bruin fan. since i've always benefitted from others here at mj's, i decided to inform some of you before leaving to tailgate.
QB ISSUES
Kevin Craft is not really the 3rd string QB. this makes it seem like the kid is a major scrub that couldn't beat out Olson & Cowan. He came in the spring and was obviously behind as the above 2 had the playbook for a few months already.
Ucla wasn't going anywhere with those 2 QB'S as both were injury prone and seniors. We are better off with Craft.
O-LINE ISSUES
yes they've had 2 Left tackles go down ( retired, knee injury ). Consequently there has been a lot of shuffling with players but its been intentional. UCLA'S new O-line coach is Bob Palcic, who did wonders at Wisconsin. He intentionally has moved a lot kids around so everyone knows every call along the line. This is still a weak area for the Bruins but the greatest Offensive Coordinator ( Norm Chow ) will have rollouts and quick hitting passes to ease the line.
i can go on for longer but if anyone has questions, i am staying online for a bit...
hope this helps you make an educated decision.
good luck friends

Like the Bruins as well. The Vols have a NEW QB as well, new OC, & are expected to win by 2 scores a LONG way from home with Fulmer as coach? Also, this great Tenneshe front 7 is really nothing impressive IMO.

Does anyone remember the Vols gave up 59 to Florida, 45 to Cal, and 41 to Alabama last season???

i feel my opinion is skewed so i rather not say but i think you can figure it out.
2 really good defenses vs. 2 new offenses.
i think Vols are really good and hopefully its the best game of the weekend.

Agree with the QB as all three were 1A, 1B and 1C, but the Oline moves being intentional is a "stretch."

Worried about the Bruins record at home and also worried about that move back to 7 over the weekend and now is moving back up. It doesn't appear that the Vols are the sharp side here.

Have fun!

Ohio but not a Buckeye
There's a big difference between the two offenses. First off, Tennessee has a legit power running game. Tennessee is also starting a former blue chip QB who was just behind Ainge. UCLA is starting a quarterback who started off at SDST and had poor numbers. Went to JC and now starting at UCLA because of injuries. Reguardless if UCLA is best off because of the injury issues or not, it still doesn't take away that he's not very good.

Also, UCLAs defense is above average. I wouldn't say they're a great defense. Comparing Alabama, Cal, and Florida's offense to UCLAs offense is rather laughable.

UCLA offensive and defensive ranks
rush-57th-14th
pass-101st-70th
total-99th-29th
scoring-92nd-29th

UCLAs strength in this game is they should have some success in stopping the run game. However, UCLAs secondary is fresh meat and Tennessee has 2 experienced WRs returning. The offensive cordinator that TENN has coming in likes the shotgun and will bring that spread offensive attack.

I think UCLA can keep this game close early, but as the game goes on and TENN wears UCLA down and the true talent comes out, Tennessee will eventually force the 3rd stringer into some bad decisions and it'll end up in a route, IMO.

I would look at the way the SEC has played versus out of conference opponents this week.

Not bad and the Vols have 4 offensive linemen that are returning.

The offensive line remark if for all the Clemson fans I had to deal with last week saying that an offensive line was not that important.:142smilie

I would lay the points, but try to stay away from playing for or against my boys. We do have a coach that you never know what to expect
