just curious as to WHY they would WANT to win today?

you want to win and risk facing Oregon? :sadwave:

instead wouldn't you want to lose really and get a feel for Stanford and then play them again next week?

Isn't it also a lot tougher to beat someone 2 times?

certainly makes sense to me

but UCLA will win and then lose by 30 vrs Oregon is my prediction of what actually happens.

On the rematch angle I know in the SEC when there is a rematch of a regular season game the winner of the first game is 5-1 in the championship game.

even with no rematch angle you'd think that Stanford would be a lot more beatable than Oregon.

you also have the option of not showing them all your looks and what not if you choose to do so because you know you'll play them next week.

in the SEC I doubt this exact setup happens often and it is a must win by both teams because the game is in the middle of the season.

Oh I agree completely. You never have teams looking at playing each other two weeks in a row. This is something we haven't seen and UCLA could lay down and not show a thing.

Maybe a good game to lay off not knowing which way the coaching staff will choose to go.

Since Mora took over as coach, he has instilled intensity, discipline and pride to a team that has sorely lacked it in recent years. Now, three months in, having righted the ship and winding down the most successful season in years for the program, he's gonna tell his guys "Hey, forgot everything I instilled in you and take the week off. I don't think you're good enough to beat Oregon so let's lose this game today." Not a fucking chance.

Stanford very well may cover, but it won't be because UCLA lies down.

I was thinking more along the lines of very conservative play calling, not so much telling your team to just lay down.
