A couple notes:

BJ Penn, "Lightweight champion," will face the stripped champion Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk. There's been some trash talking goin on. I know for a fact Penn has made some steroid jokes. Should be an interesting matchup with a contrast of styles, but also unique in its sense.

Tito Ortiz will bode fairwell to the UFC, and IMO, will never fight in the UFC again after this fight. I know people say what they want about the guy, but Tito, IMO, is one of the reasons, if not the biggest reason why the UFC is where it is today. This fight is truly a memorable one for the books.

Thiago Silva whom was slated to face Rashad Evans(takes place for "Shogun" Rua to face Chuck Liddell), will face Antonio Mendes. Silva is the next big thing in the sport if you ask me. He's got all the tools to be an ELITE fighter in the world. He's going to be the next LHW champion, it's only a matter of time.

FINALLY, my boy, Wandy will return to action after one of the most anticipated and electric fights of all time against Chuck Liddell(mark my word, we will see Wandy/Chuck II). He's fighting another fighter who has actually beaten some top flight fighters such as, Liddell, and Forrest Griffin. I'm going to be so pumped and nervous, as I am everytime he fights.

LETS GET IT ON!!

I never ever thought I would say this but I think Sherk is the play here with the way the odds are set up. If it wasn't a championship bout I would say BJ but I just can't see BJ having more in him than Sherk in the 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Saying that, I would hate to see Sherk win because I like watching BJ fight and I hate watching Sherk fight.

I am angry that no one is putting BJ Penn at the top of their pound for pound rankings  ... but this fight with Sherk should help (if Penn wins)... im really starting to like BJ at -220, but it is possible that Penn will wear out a bit which would be bad against Sean 'the cardio shark' Sherk...

odds on Sherk are way way too good to pass up...amazing odds:scared

If Sherk gets it to the 4th/5th round he wins....if not he loses...simple as that....odds are amazing on Sherk...nothing more to say except that it will be a great fight......:SIB

and this will make ya feel better raw....BJ in top 10:

(GSP and Anderson are tied for 1 everyone knows that!)

I think i can deal with the top 5 on this list... it does make me feel better :)

in my personal opinion St. Pierre took over Anderson for the #1 spot this past weekend... some may disagree, but i think Anderson has some holes in his game... Henderson admitted he fought a stupid fight against him -- he should have stuck with controlling him on the ground like he did in round 1. Folks like Rich Franklin and Chris Leben fit right into Anderson's strengths and Silva is on another level with his striking game than those guys... not to say Anderson Silva isnt top 2, b/c he is, but i would have GSP at #1 (and i think GSP has the skills/brains to beat Silva at middleweight... sshhh... i hope we get to see that one).

back to BJ... ive even heard Rampage Jackson say he thinks BJ is the top pound for pound fighter in the world... his record is deceiving b/c he is fought in so many weight classes.. one of his losses is a decision to Lyoto Machida at heavyweight!!! :142squint

nonetheless, this fight w/ Sherk will help prove where he stands in the rankings. BJs conditioning has made some big strides and i think he takes it no doubt, but Sherk has only been finished once and we all know his conditioning is stellar, so i can see how some people like the line for Sherk..... ;)

see I knew you'd feel better:mj07:

and GSP at #1.....yeppers:SIB

also...lets put it this way for odds....if you put half a million on Keith Jardine at +140, Tito Ortiz at +185 and Sean Sherk at +190 you'd be a millionaire:SIB I think two outta three is a real possibility.....love the odds on all three of em:SIB

Rawli, BJ is a tough one for me. I love to watch him fight. I think everyone of his fights are exciting. Mainly because he doesn't mind putting his head down and banging with people and then when people do try to take him down it's just awesome to watch the things he can do.

Saying that, I think that cardio comes in to play when you're talking about the best p4p in the world. I admire him for taking fights against anyone but if he doesn't beat Sherk then to me he goes way down the list on p4p fighters.

I will say this, I think he has the strongest jaw in mma(Hendo is up there with him). It doesn't seem like you ever see anyone rock BJ with punches or kicks.

All valid opinions....

there are some really tough picks on this card... UFC 84 is gonna be a blast to watch... very competitive.

i may just take a break on this one... a big play on Cung Le has been my only savior in these last few MMA events and i may sit on the sidelines and reevaluate my strategy... one thing I KNOW i need to do is start a 5 dimes account and get some MMA parlay action going.

more on :hail ....BJ Penn.... he has been dominant in every sense of the word in his last few fights, but Sherk is definitely a different character than any of those opponents. BJ knows that Sherk is in immaculate condition and i think Penn comes to fight all five rounds. He is training year-round now and just looks like hes on a mission.

BJs excellent guard i think will be the key to him taking this fight... Penn protects himself very well on the ground and Sherk's ground and pound is his bread and butter... however, I still think Sherk starts the fight on his feet and BJ may want to keep it there, too. on the feet Penn will dominate w/ his boxing and Sherk will eventually want it on the ground... i think BJ submits him here. thats my vision and im stickin to it. :mj07:

still, Sherk will likely be more fresh in later rounds so i hope it doesnt go that far :)

no action yet but liking Wanderlei (-160) and Penn (-220) ... Wanderlei losing four in a row would be a travesty and im not sure Jardine is gonna know what hit him ... Jardine has a very awkward style, though, so still mulling this one over.

i couldn't agree more. This thing goes anywhere near the third round its over for BJ. No way i could bet those odds on Penn. Im not even sure i would bet him if it was an even fight. I love BJ but he has to get him out of there quick. Can he do it? Sure but not chancing it with my money. He looked gassed against Stevenson and that was only one round and he was in great shape.

He looked gassed? I think the guy came out in the 2nd Round with all the energy and pushing the action trying to finish Stevenson.

Sherk hasn't fought in over a year, literally. I would probably consider taking Sherk had he have a few fights under his belt since coming back, but he hasn't. Sherk has fought world class fighters, but he's lost to all of them, and badly.

I'm taking Penn, Lyoto, Thiago, and Wandy of course.

I'm telling you guys, Thiago is the next big thing. I absolutely love this guy.

Penn is a changed man. He'll tell you himself, and BJ is an honest guy, he's never been one to shy away from the truth or telling you how he really feels.

He didn't used to take the training as serious, and now he's all about the fighting and training, and he says that he just feels like a new man.

I've gotta think he owes it all to "Little Evil."

These guys really hate each other. It's gonna be a tough as fight.

Bucks after his fight with Stevenson BJ looked very tired. I think Weasel pointed this out to. We had a discussion in here about cardio and like speed some guys just might not have it. BJ came into the fight in terrific shape but he looked very tired to me at the end of it. Just to many what if's in this fight. Like someone else said that if this was a three rounder Penn's chances would be a whole lot greater. Also guys coming off steriods don't seem to do to well the next fight so there is another "if". I just see Shrirk laying his head into BJ Chest and mauling him. Hopefully the ref breaks it up a few times or its gonna be a long boring fight unless BJ catches him early and BJ does have the potential to catch him. I do have some big time respect for Shirks chin tho, because those knees Hermie hit him with were nasty and Shirk shook them off. Oh and by the way is there any chance we can get back to talking about GSP?:SIB

Honestly, I just think this fight is a bad matchup for Sherk. I would favor BJ Penn on all aspects of this fight. Sherk obviously does't wanna exchange. BJ Penn is a freak on the ground. His dexterity is something that makes your eyes buldge.

I think BJ Penn wins by RNC in the first or second round.

If not that, I think he'll win by stoppage, somewhat like GSP did to Sherk, or what GSP did to Serra.

I'm gonna give the BJ/Sherk one a miss. Think BJ is Number 1 but in my mind like most others he has the first 2 maybe 3 rounds to win. If he can't do it in that time period he is in trouble.

Quick note:
UFC 85 was to be Shogun vs. Chuck.
Shogun out and Evans in.
Now Chuck out and it looks like James Irvin in.
Wow. What a dud fight card in London.
