Yeah - not only that, but we are seeing some horrible calls too. I can't remember a year where there has been so many bad calls. It has been mentioned in other threads, but it is almost like the umps are trying to get on the pedistal by making some of these calls. Its just not good. Does he really need to throw out Edmonds?

no $ on the game either

As with others, no $ on game and I am not a Cardinals fan (love the ChiSox), but that was an incredibly brutal call on that Edmonds pitch. It nearly HIT HIM.

This is so frustrating......no $ on Angels/Sox either, but when a ball goes right down the middle at the knees and its a ball......come on. I don't mean to bitch out of control, but this is ludacris - who cares if he had to move the glove back over the plate - its still a strike.........ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....i'm telling you, its all ego

I don't know which series this was in, I think WS/Halo's a couple days ago....

(Konerko maybe) Batter hit the ball off the front of his foot and it rolled towards the middle of the field as if off the bat. It was an easy out for the fielders. The ump called the batter out while refusing to appeal to another that may have had a better view. I don't get a move like that. I thought they would want to get a call correct 1st and foremost.

Can't remember the game, either, but I know exactly the play you're talking about. That was a horrible call. I *think* it may have been Steve Finley batting. I know it was an older guy because the annoucers made a comment about how he's getting up there in age since he took off running like three steps before it appeared that he realized it had gone off his foot and he could feel the pain.

But just a blatant bad call.

It was off the foot of Grudzielanek.

I will agree with the assertion that the spotlight on the umpiring may have caused more than the usual sdhare of bad calls, but I hope it doesn't detract from the fact that the two best teams , the Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros, are winning their series.
