let's get one thing straight - i bleed wolfpack red and am looking for every possible reason to hope the tarheels lay an egg in charlotte, so this is hardly an unbiased analysis. on paper, charlotte does not match up very well with the heels, to say the least. but with the belichick story being written in chapel hill, all kinds of intangibles come into play.

only in chapel hill would the admin believe that they could open the checkbook wide and instantly fix their football problem by bringing in a 73 year old man who has never coached a single college game, an entirely new coaching staff that, for the most part, has no college experience, 70 new players that have never played together, and become instantly competitive at the top level of ncaa football. but all the tar heel faithful believed. while tickets sales lagged in the recent past, unc immediately raised season and regular game ticket prices by 40% and sold every single ticket, both season and individual game tickets. at the kickoff of the tcu game, every seat was filled and celebrities abounded; halfway through the third quarter the place was mostly empty. we're left to speculate on what effect that will have on the players, mostly young kids who have never had that experience, guided by coaches who have never had to prepare college players after such an experience.

for today, heels are off a very short week and traveling after having played tcu on monday night, while charlotte is off a long week having played last friday at home. 49ers have several tarheel rejects, including qb sam harrell, who transferred from unc last year after seeing the writing on the wall. also, unc qb is questionable at best with a significant back injury suffered against tcu. college games sometimes dont play out the way they do on paper. if anything, the pressure on the heels is even greater today than on monday. distinct possibility the heels blow the 49ers out today, but im taking some of my monday night winnings and putting a unit on charlotte +14 (-120) and half unit on charlotte +315 1st half and +420 for the game.

great write-up, sir. and i agree with everything but with one caveat... if lopez is out, that could be a plus for UNC.

before the monday night game, i looked at unc's roster and just assumed johnson was the starter. i was surprised to see it was lopez.

that said, i'll still be on charlotte tonight. GL!

Most of my closest Heel followers do not think BB was going to be instant magic. ESPN noted before the game we have 2 NFL prospects. 70 new players and roughly 28 days of practice. We should certainly get better as the season moves along but expectations and those around me are not high. Heels getting 3 vs TCU was a joke. I mopped up in that. Waaaay too much respect for BB in that one! GL today. Good to see you in the threads.

idn, maybe johnson is better, and maybe is isnt. depth is compromised for sure. probably makes the offense less versatile. this game most likely will be decided inside the tarheel heads.
