okay, okay . . . a casual glance at my avatar will tell you where my loyalties lie tonight but I would feel remiss if I didn't offer something up about this game. I will say this - I don't think this is a high quality unc team by their standards. that is to say, I don't see them in the sweet 16, and I don't see them winning the acc tournament. with that out of the way, when I look at the heels tonight laying the number, I see a team that is just 5-9 ats in the acc, 2-4 away. they are locked in a battle for the top seed in the acc tourney with Miami (my other alma mater) and Virginia. they are just off games last week with duke and Miami, and they have the cavs on deck Saturday. I'm not saying they will overlook the pack, I'm just saying that their attention must be divided.
the wolfpack is an undervalued team because of their underachieving in the win column. they are also fresh off that epic 2nd half meltdown in Charlottesville, where they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, losing by 20 after being tied at halftime. a closer look reveals state is 7-5 ats in the acc, 4-1-1 ats in their last 6, 5-1 ats in conference when they're getting 6 or more, and 5-1-1 ats in games totaled over 150. state has also recently developed some other scoring options beyond cat barber, and, as a result, have averaged over 81 ppg in their last 8 acc games. finally, the wolfpack is going nowhere this postseason beyond maybe a couple of acc tournament games. no chance of any divided focus in Raleigh, this is the biggest remaining game of the season for nc state. ncsu +8- is the bigger play, but i'll have a little dough on the +325 ml.
