Here are my initial thoughts on this one:
Very early I feel like the under may be a good play. Keep in mind that I am saying this without seeing the line yet, I've only seen UNC -11. Here is the reason why at this point the under might be a good play. The Heels need to run the floor to score points, they will play run and gun if they can to put up points quick in the transition. If they are forced to play a half-court set offense, they are not nearly as effective. If Rutgers has done any homework, which I know they will, they know their best gameplan is to try to force UNC to fall into a half court offense. The heels did this volunarily in the 2nd half last night and Penn St took a 17-2 run if I remember correctly.
The tar heels played inspired defense last night, and even though Penn St sucks, I think a big reason they shot 30% was due to the swarming d of UNC. The biggest reason I lean to the under is because I feel like the line will be inflated. After watching UNC put up points at will when they needed to, I think the books will overcompensate this tomorrow. Combine that with the fact that Rutgers will force Carolina to play half-court, I think the under might be a good bet.
As far as the line, I'm not sure if I'd lay 11 points at this point of the season. It's only been one game, I haven't seen enough to convince me that these kids can play with that much energy on a consistent basis. Keep in mind Rutgers has made the semis the last few years and will be looking forward to playing in their backyard should they advance.
In the end, I think the Heels will win because they will be home.
I think the 1st half line might be a good idea because I think UNC might come out of the gates quickly and try to stun Rutgers.
If anyone has anything to add I would appreciate. Not too knowledgeable about Rutgers. And if anyone has seen an early total tonight I'd appreciate you posting it.
Will follow up soon after some more though and after I talk to a couple of people.
