Does this mean Florida is going to give up their 1996 national title? Should FSU have gotten rings before the 1997 Sugar Bowl?

Urban Meyer, from the Florida Times-Union:

"I think that'd be unfair to Ohio State, and I think it'd be unfair to the country," Meyer said. "I just don't believe that's the right thing to do. You're going to tell Ohio State they have to go beat the same team twice, which is extremely difficult, and you're going to tell teams that played their hearts out [that they can't play for the national title] ... they [Michigan] had their chances. Ohio State is No. 1, someone has a chance to go get No. 1.

"If that [rematch] does happen, it's over. All the presidents need to get together immediately and put together a playoff system, I mean like now, January, or whenever to get that done."

"USC, you could make a case for them, and you could make a case for us," Meyer said. "I think Arkansas would be a little more difficult to make one, because they were head-to-head [with USC] and they got beat [by 36] by a team that's right there. Same thing with Notre Dame. Not that they're not deserving, but the fact is they got beat at home [by Michigan] by a substantial margin.

"I think they're both excellent teams, but realistically the one team out there is the University of Florida, and probably Southern Cal. But Southern Cal got beat by an unranked team. We went to a hostile environment [at Auburn], played our heart out, we were on the six-yard line and failed to get it done."

If a Michigan ? Ohio State rematch does occur?

"If I'm Ohio State, I go get a bunch of rings picked out and say, 'We won the national championship,'" Meyer said. "That's not right."

I agree with him, except for the part that Florida deserves to go over USC.

And Corvallis is very hostile, he should know that. It might not be Auburn, but that is a very tough place to play.

Mark it down. Regardless of the outcome b/w LSU and Arky this weekend, the Hogs will run all over Fla w/o their stud DT in the SEC Championship game.

Tend to agree with you here. Sounds like if the Tigers win, LSU and Michigan might match up in Pasadena. That would be an entertaining one.

I know what your saying, but I have to disagree. I'm sick of every year hearing people say, "lets just let it play out and see what happens".

Thats like playing russian roulette. "Lets just wait til the trigger has been completely pulled before we speak up about how stupid it is". Although theres only a 1/6 chance you get shot. With the BCS theres pretty much a 90% chance its not going to work.

Fail to plan = Plan to fail

The BCS is complete garbage.
