I watched quite a bit of this playoff today, and it certainly was entertaining. I've liked Women's Tennis more than men's for quite some time now; maybe I'll be converted to watching more of this on TV from now on. What a playoff final hole, and what an unlikely champion. Fun stuff.

Live in fort worth and work at a golf course where Angela Standford played and practiced at during college. Very nice girl it was fun to watch her this week. Know her instructor Amy Fox as well it was a great week for both of them. Would not be suprised to see Angela keep playing great golf for a long time on the women's tour.

I also enjoy womens golf but part of me laughs at this as a complete joke. Do you think you would have seen the complete choke jobs by the two leaders and Sorenstam yesterday if it was the PGA tour with Tiger as one of the 3? Only think I can think of was Van de Velde getting an 8 on the final hole of the British. Yesterday Lunke is leading, shoots 75 in the final round, hits her 2nd on the par 5 18th in the the sand. Now she can only drive the ball 230 so I guess thats part of it. For that performance she wins a spot in the playoff. Sorrenstam pastes a drive and is set up in the middle of the fairway, easy shot in two. Turns out birdie wins it, par gets her in a playoff. I guess great shots dont mean you can get up and down in 4 from 220 away in the middle of the fairway because it took her 5 shots. Bogies herself right out of it.

Watching any event where people are crapping all over themselves to give it away, thats not fun. Its a joke. If I was watching a tennis match and there were 20 double faults in the final set, that wouldnt be much fun to watch either.

I was rooting for the women who shot 69 yesterday but I guess she lost. She was playing like she wanted to win, the others were playing like they were afraid to win.

Kelly Robins shot 69 because she hits the ball high. She produces a spin rate of average pga tour players. The only two players to shoot under par on sunday were her and grace park. both have a high ball rate and spin rate. I see that as the big difference in womens and men's chamionship golf.

I see that and the incredible lack of distance by Lunke and the other gal. I mean its one thing to not drive the ball 300 yards. But when you hit driver 230, with roll, on a professional tour, that is just not going to get it done over the long term. I think theres a reason shes won like $60k in her entire career. Robbins had a beautiful swing too and like Annika, hits the high ball that carries.

I tell you what guy's those girls can flat out play. Audra Burks who play on the women tour is a friend of mine and we have played golf together numerous time's. It's really something to see them play up close and personal. You can't believe the shot's they hit when they are out just messing around. It is awesome. Not to mention a short game that is incredible.

Thats fine that they can flat out play, but the bottom line is a girl like Lunke is going nowhere in the long term with the distance she has. Averaging 229 yards off the tee is not going to get it done when you have to hit 5 and 7 wood approach shots and Sorrenstam/Robbins/etc are hitting 8 irons next to you. It just wont add up in the long term. This is exactly like when Sorrenstam played the PGA event. Sure a short hitter (relative to your competition) who is accurate can have a good short term run, but eventually hitting 6 clubs more on your approach than the person next to you is going to catch up.

I congratulate her, but I would be willing to bet we dont hear from her again at all this year.

acehi, who cares if we never see her again? She just WON the US Women's Open! It's a great accomplishment, and she's a great competitor.

Realistically, I think most men can identify with the women's game. Granted, I could poke out a 300 yard drive on occasion or hit my wedge 145 if I herniated my balls on the swing, but with an easy, smooth swing, I'd be happy with 240 down the center on my drives. I'm not ashamed to say I'd be proud to shooting a par round on the Pumpkin Ridge course.

She won against the best competition, and I think it's a wonderful story, and I still say it was a great tourney to watch. Much more entertaining than watching all the announcers suck off Tiger every tourney and show his every shot even if he is struggling to make the cut. I get sick of that, and I LIKE Tiger.

One of the few players ever (maybe Payne Stewart) to birdie the last hole to win a Usga event. I watch and play a ton of golf and Sunday and Monday were about as good as it gets. If a person has played any golf they can only imagine what must have been going thru her mind on the 18th tee and standing over that last putt. Not pointing in anyone's direction but if you didn't find that exciting you really don't know much about golf.
