What stands out to me is USC's pass offense, 8th in the country at 307 ypg vs. Iowa's pass def ranked 109th at 271 ypg. Iowa can stop the run being 2nd in run defense but Palmer will opt to pass all over the secondary. Iowa can pass avg, 210 ypg, ranked 62nd against 43 ranked pass def giving up 202 ypg. Both have excellent run def being ranked 2nd and 6th so I see a lot of air tonight with a clear advantage to USC. Iowa will have the more balanced attack with a ground advantage but I don't think they can keep up with the Trojans. As much as I hate USC, I'll give up the 5 points and play the over as well. GL:)

most of the passing yards against iowa came when the other team was way down and having to throw every down. iowa was trailing once at halftime all year, so most teams had to throw to try and get back in the game.

...i would have to agree with kebbyc. iowa's small corners are going to have their work cut out for them tonight.... palmer and those big wr's should be able to do as they please.... the only category that i give iowa an edge over usc is in special teams. methinks that usc covers the number.... ;)

...too bad i'll be back in class and won't get to watch what will probably be the best bowl game of the year.... :(

True that Iowa had teams throwing on them due to having the lead. This may be accounting for giving up so many passing yards. On the flip side, Teams were able to come back by throwing the ball and Iowa hasn't faced as good a QB as Palmer. Iowa St may have been the best QB faced and they lost after having a 24-7 lead. Penn St and Purdue also came back to almost beat them with QB's that aren't stellar. Palmer and WR Mike Williams have hugh games tonight.
