Not a bash thread, but curious to hear your response to last night's debacle. Is this team just not that good? I mean you can't lose to a Stanford even on a bad day if you are one of the best teams ever. This team could lost 2 or 3 more games traveling to Oregon, Cal, and AZ St.

They are laying a big number next week and want to hear from you as to what you think. Stanford is a home dog to an average TCU team, but tend to like TCU in that one. Almost came back and beat a pretty good Wyoming team on the road.

I'm a Stanford fan, and an even bigger Pac10 fan. Here's my take:

Pac10 games are always interesting. Never assume. People dog the 10 for lack of D, but it is a competitive division within itself.

Secondly, the Cardinal did a great job of taking what USC gave them. That's important for any team to do. Harbough will do wonders for this team. He inspires confidence, and a "academic" school need someone like that.

Dont have as much time as I was hoping. Wife is calling:shrug:

Right the sky is falling to many SC faithful and many are pretty calm. I think for the most part we are just in absolute shock that it happened.

Not to say that they were due to lose one of these close ones, but at least lose to a team who will end up with a winning record and not get blown out in just about every other game.

In Carroll's regime I have never seen so many mistakes via penalties and turnovers. I really don;t know how you fix those.

As for SC being overrated, I think they have a perpetual built 3-5 spots in the polls handed to them based on the run. I don't think it is any different than the bias/respect that Miami and FSU get every year.

I have not posted this year because I really feel like SC is not in the league of LSU and wanted to avoid the banter that would happen. I think we just saw that though SC on any given day could beat anyone, they could also lose to anyone-AND I DO MEAN ANYONE.

But I do have to say that if SC were somehow to get an identity and drop some sac, then they could win out.

If so it will be eerily like 2003. Lose to a cruddy team, Cal was average, and win out. I believe that in 2003 SC only dropped to like 9-10 and then won out and played in the Rose Bowl.

Right now and all season it has been LSU's to lose. They are the best team by far.

If it were just about any other name on the jersey USC would be ranked nuch lower than 10 after that loss. It is a worse loss than Michigan to App State and Michigan went from 4 to out of the poll.

Don't disagree but I think people have still had the opportunity to see SC put in a small body of work. Michigan had not.

Still in shock and yes the worst upset of all time.

The polls are just bs. Mizzou is unbeaten with wins over Illinois and a destruction of Nebraska and still not in the Top 10? USC has a destruction of Nebraska and a bunch of nothing plus a loss. Not sure I buy the "body of work" argument.

Florida is ranked 9, goes to #1 LSU and loses at the buzzer and drops 5 places? How is Arizona STtae ranked behind USC? And so on....

We can around and around but I think it is the same for every named school like a Texas, USC, FL, etc. Perception is not always reality.

I would not have a problem if they dropped all the way to 16-17, but I think you would be hard pressed to find 16 teams better than SC in the country even after the atrocious loss last week.

I think by year's end SC will be in the Top 5 and only because of attrition. I cannot see anyone winning out other than LSU.

And if they end up 9-3 or 8-4, then so be it. They can't win 11 plus games every year with the parity that is happening.

I do agree as I talked with a well respected capper who also said, that the USC loss is worse than Michigan because Appy St. is a better team than Stanford. Stanford will have a losing record and Appy St will contend for another I-AA or whatever the hell it is national champ.

So Cal
5 TO's are the reason SC lost the game.
USC had to face Stanford without several topflight players sidelined by injuries including tailbacks Stafon Johnson and C.J. Gable, offensive linemen Kristofer O'Dowd and Chilo Rachel, linebacker Brian Cushing and defensive back Josh Pinkard
With key pieces to the puzzle missing you simply have to take better care of the ball.

I'm very upset with J.D.Booty's play so far.
He's been locking on to a target , and trying to force the ball to that same target he had his eye's
on right after the snap. He got away with it the first few games but D.C's are catching on.
I'll cut him a little slack due to trying to adjust to his new WR's.
LY J.D.B had 2 all americans at WR .I may be wrong on 2 AA's but they were awesome. Very reliable , good hands WR's in college.
It seems like the team forget how to catch this year. SOOO many dropped passes all year.
I'm not going to single anyone out cause this is true for the Off. as a whole. it seems like they all have butterfingers.

Bottom line is
Stanford desrved to win that game.

Will USC lose a few more ?. It certianly wouldn't be a shocker after this game.

I personally have lost the "FAITH" after this one.

J.D.Booty looks AVG. WR's look AVG far too many droped passes. Oline is hurting. O'dowd is only a freshmen but a very good one.
OG C.Rachal injury reallly hurts USC he is awesome in run blocking.

At this point the Rose Bowl seems like a reach.

I read last year that Sanchez was a better QB than Booty.

Seems easier for me to accept a USC loss.

playoffs, what playoffs !

Subject: USC and the National Polls
Some of you might have missed this!

The top ten reasons Pete Carroll says the Trojans should remain number one:

10. The PAC 10 is definitely the toughest conference west of the Continental Divide.

9. John David Booty played with a broken finger.

8. Standford was the best 0 and 5 team in the country.

7. Its impossible to play your best week after week against teams with losing records.

6. The Trojans always deserve a share of number one regardless of their record.

5. Even with a loss, they have had more Heismann Trophy winners than other schools.

4. They were looking forward to an eventual battle with another titan of football, Notre Dame later in the season.

3. They were National Champions in 2003 without being in the Championship Game (a feat no other school would even try to accomplish).

2. You can't expect any team to beat Washington State and Stanford back to back.

1. Former USC players have gotten away with murder, so whats one little bitty loss in a national poll.

Funniest top ten list I have ever seen

Funniest top ten list I have ever seen

All of those are true. Heres the worst part. LSU fans like myself actually have to root for USC to win out so we can face them in the national championship game and end this thing for once and all. I think if the condoms win out (with all of the media bias they still get in). We don;t want to face OU, already beat them, South FLA, come on be serious, Ohio State would get crushed, I think the 2 best teams are probably LSu and Florida!

LSU isnt goping to win out. Probably wont win Saturday and wont win a Florida rematch. It usually helps to let the games finish out before talking too much trash.
