I took this from one of AUs message boards. Scott this is what an unbiased, non-homer, ect... sounds like. I think maybe you should take some notes.... here are his two posts....

Hello Auburn!

Let me just say, we miss you guys. Va Tech posters are nowhere to be found. There is no other team I'd love to play year in and year out than you guys. We'll besides ND and ucla of course.

On to chalk talk... who's your toughest opponet this year? As a Trojan, I'd have to say our toughest games will be Va Tech in the opener (breaking in a new line) and Notre Dame at ND. It's never easier there for us regardless of how weak their team is.

How's Auburn looking this year? Solid TB's again with the Caddie returning, but what about the rest of your team? QB?

At SC we've got Big Mike Williams returning (if he passes two summer school classes, which shouldn?t be a problem for him), our entire backfield and TE's. Our D should be a bigger faster version of last years. Our Oline is looking very young and inexperienced and that could be our weakest, and most important area.

Best wishes, WDE and Fight On! Thanks for two great years of your boards hospitality.

next post....

Some great responses and exciting schedule. Best of luck. I was actually very surprised to see Alabama so low one of the lists. Another down year for those boys? I think LSU is overrated this year (and the same could be said about my team too) and AU is easily one of the most underrated squads this year IMHO. Of course, that?s just me. We expect great things from our cousins down south this year. I don?t think Mike will win the Heisman this year. It?s so difficult for a WR to do so. TB?s and QB?s usually get the nod. Matt ( our QB that looks like Bob form the Bachlor) has a better chance just because he has so many weapons in Bush, White, Byrd, Williams, Smith, Holmes, Dennis, etc. We expect HUGE numbers from our O this year IF our OL gels. We do have some great young talented Olinemen but more importantly we have an amazing teach in Coach Davis and Offensive Coordinator in Norm Chow. Both run the O to our teams strengths and do their best to minimize or mask our weaknesses. I expect lots of quick slants, screens and passes to our TE?s early in the season with some solid ball control O. We?re going to give our D the lead for a the first few games. So? take the under until we start the Pac 10. Then bet the farm, or at least the tractor on us.

Yes, we play ND at home, my bad. I must be still living in the past! ucla is away this year which means ND is at home. Should have remembered that.

WSU is away, which is always a challenge for any team, however, they've lost a lot of their talent from years past. Although, everyone said that last year about them after they lost a few studs to the pros. One thing about WSU, they are TOUGH at home and they play as a team. You can?t say that about many squads across the nation anymore.

You can say the same about Oregon at home, but not the ?team? part. Very ?thug? team along w/ OSU. They both usually get the California rejects who don?t qualify grade wise or are overlooked for better talent. Great coaches at both schools though. SC has not only a great schedule as far as who we play this year, but we also have a great schedule on when and where we play each team. We have byes at opportune times and we play the toughest teams at home or on neutral fields (Va Tech, well sort of).

The Pac 10 has a few decent teams this year, Oregon, ASU and Cal being two that come to mind. We don't play Oregon this year and we play Cal at home with revenge on our minds. It took them triple OT to beat us by a field goal on the road last year. That was before our QB found a groove and before Bush and White (our FR TB's from a year ago) found some decent PT. Things will change this year with 80K+ on hand. Can't wait for that game. ucla is weak this year. Washington lost their WR Williams and their QB. They are always tough at home, but they don't play well on the road. OSU is not as good as the media portrays them to be. They lost their stud TB, Jackson, to the Rams/NFL. This lack of a running game will expose their D. Stanford is a joke until they get a new coach. Arizona is a few years away before Stoops puts his stamp on the team.

First of all, I agree with this poster that Auburn fans were great. I wish USC could play Auburn every year or start another home and home series. Very cool fans and AU has great tradition.

What is the difference between this poster and me? Maybe I am not so wishy washy. I am a lot more direct and I think maybe that rubs people the wrong way. It shouldn't but it does. I never said the Pac 10 was the best last year and I never said the Pac 10 will be the best next year. I never said Pac 10 is superior to anyone. My arguments always have been no conference is superior to the pac 10. All my arguments about USC have been realistic. So that is not a definition of a homer.

As for USC, I have produced nothing but winners on madjacks with my analysis. I think I bet USC "HUGE" 4-5 times in the last 2 years and I have won every single one. It is all documented here at madjacks and I only post my big plays. Who wants my average plays and I usually am 50% with average size plays anyways. I know I posted at least 4 of my huge games on USC here at madjacks "with" analysis, and I was called a homer. Ironic thing was most of what I "predicted" came true. (some posters gave me kudos and not everyone called me homer) I cashed and many posters were left with red faces. I could care less if people call me a homer and I really don't care what people think of me. If I post a pick, I give detailed analysis behind it and let everyone know how much I have on a game. I wish others on this site would post analysis instead of just a pick. Maybe because I do not bet blindly.

I even said taking V-Tech over USC +17 was a great bet and told Mr. Hockey he was smart taking it. I will never in my life bet against USC unless maybe I am 90% sure it is a winner. Came very close to betting against USC in 1995 Rose Bowl against Northwestern. Almost bet big on that too but decided not too. Thank God since USC won. But Northwestern was def. a great bet.

I gave my analysis on the USC vs V-Tech and said all the question marks about USC this upcoming season. USC "might" be vulnerable in some key areas during the beginning of the season. I am extremely confident USC will be smoking at the end of the year.

I know the value in betting USC is gone and I thought last year betting on USC was bad idea (only bet on USC 4 times I think last year). However USC beat vegas big time 2 years in a row. Next season I expect USC to be a poor ATS team.

Something to remember. Watch every USC game this year and if USC is down at half bet the farm on USC 2h (not literally). USC has dominated opponents in the 2h 2 straight years with conditioning and coaching adjustments. Just wait for a game that USC is down at half or very close. For example USC -23 for game and USC only up by 3pts at half, pound USC. Just wait for that game.

I call it like I see it. I call a spade a spade. People don't like it especially when I always back up my opinion with factual data. You cannot be upset with someone who states their opinion and gives solid reasonable support behind it. As for conferences, I always respect the SEC and Big 12 etc.. I think both conferences have some amazing teams and coaches. But I am calling a spade a spade in terms of strengths of conferences. BTW, I love the gameday environments in the south. One day I will go to a game in the south. Missed my chance with USC vs Auburn. I will prob. go to USC vs Arkansas and have taste of that great BBQ down there.

Never in my life unless 90% sure it is a winner means NEVER!

Classic definition of a homer = never betting against the homer team

I never bet against the home team. If you win, your boys lost. If you lose, it's harder to enjoy your boys winning. Sucks.
