Las Vegas 3/2/03
I am not going to get into a whole lot of detail this week for lack of time, but this one is pretty clear cut. There are many drivers that have fared well here in the past and just simply have not practiced well, and I don?t like their setup. I am speaking of Mark Martin, Sterling Marlin, Dale Jarrett and Bill Elliott. All 4 of those guys are not in good starting positions, and all 4 have practiced like crap. They may find it come race time, but you cant bank on that.
On the other hand, there are a few teams that tested out in Vegas and have had a plan for this racetrack for a long time now. Two of those are the Hendrick cars?Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. Both of these cars are amazing. The only car that can give them a run is the car of Kurt Busch. There are other cars that have practiced very well, but I just don?t think they have what it takes to win. Dale Earnhardt Jr, Bobby LaBonte, Tony Stewart all have had really fast practice and qualifying times, so don?t count them out, and don?t bet a whole lot against them, but they are going to have their hands full catching the 24 and 48 cars. Here are my to win bets. I am going to keep them on a short list this week, just because I am really high on the Hendrick cars.
Jimmie Johnson +1000 (20 units) (142.5+ units profit)
Jeff Gordon +700 (20 units) (82.5 unit profit)
Busch +550 (25 units) (+85 units profit)
Earnhardt JR +1000 (12.5 units)(+60 unit profit)
Matchups
J Gordon -165 over Jarrett
Junior -200 over Rudd
Green +100 over Mayfield
Bodine +110 over Nadeau
Waltrip +105 over Sadler
Elliott -145 over Rudd
Nadeau -155 over W Burton
Mears +100 over R Gordon
J Gordon -140 over newman
Green -170 over R Gordon
Johnson +185 over J Burton and Newman
Bodine +155 over K Wallace and Petty
Sleepers ( drivers that will be great to take in matchups)
Todd Bodine
Jimmy Spencer
Overrated drivers (good go against)
Ricky Rudd
Mark Martin
Dale Jarrett
Sorry for being brief, but I gotta speed this up, or I will miss the race!!!
