Does anyone know the maximums for Vegas Sportbooks?

My friend wanted to place 6 000 bucks on an NHL moneyline (odds were +100) and they said no (Ballys)

I was shocked...........I thought any wager up to $10 000 would be fine.........but guess I was wrong?

but something tells me if ya wanted to place 6 grand on odds of +950 they would take that bet :p

also.........in the Aussy open (tennis) my buddy wanted to place 3 grand on a QF match (odds were +145) and they said no (Paris)

are there Sportbooks in Vegas that take that action? There has got to be........how is it that ya here about Jordan and Barkley betting millions:shrug: Or is that just because they're famous:confused:

I'm pretty sure when you read about MJ and Barkley betting millons that its not on sports. Casinos can get stung big-time on sports bets, so they protect themselves with sometimes-ridiculously low limits. In a game like blackjack or roulette or whatever, where there is an in-house advantage, they'll allow much higher limits. While the 11-10 typical bet gives the house an advantage, a sharp player or someone with inside info could, in theory, kill the house. There is no such advantage in table games, even with counting cards in blackjack. The odds always favor the casino, and there isn't an involuntary third party involved like with sports, so they allow bigger bets.

Depends

Depends

(1) Depends on the book.
(2) Depends on the game.

Sunset Station raised their side limits to 30k Tampa Bay and 60k Oakland (guess they needed Fader money).

While in line to make a wager, a fellow bet 10K on the under.
Which made me like the Over even more ;)

The limits are posted at eacj book. If you would like to make a wager above the posted limit, call the manager/director over. They can & sometimes will, make an exception.

Of course injuries, sickness, rumors etc... all factor in on their decisions.
