Just has gotten real unfriendly out there. Don't care if they wait on you or not unless you are big whale. Prices are not cheap and seem to get worse.

I don't like to hear that. It seems to be a problem more and more.

I know sometimes when I just get back I think that I'm all "Vegased Out". But then a few months later I am ready to go back.

Did you happen to go to the Cosmopolitan? Aside from not having a poker room I've been reading some great reviews of the place.

I am sorry that you didn't have a better time. Vacations are too far and few between to not have a great time.

Thanks for all of your input in the NCAA foots forum this year. You got me on some winners AND off a few losers too.

Yea I went/walked thru to the Met--classy and up scale. It was a fun vacation. We usually go on 6-7 trips a year and Vegas is always one. Going to stay at the Wynn next time we go. We like Reno more laid back, not as $$ and friendlier. I had to talk to the supervisor of a bartender at the Flamingo. He would not wait on me after my 1st beer. I was playing video poker watching one of the playoff games and he kept passing me by. I told the supervisor and he stood off in the background and watched for a while. He finally saw what was happening. Supervisor asked why and the bartender it was because I was smoking a cigar-he did not liek the smoke. Give me a break. He really caught hell. He sent him to another bar in the casino. Plenty of cigarette smokers there which he waited on. Prick.

We made the transition and now stay off strip most of the time. When I was in my 20's and 30's, I had to be on the strip.

Now, we go there when we want to but, have found better service, far better odds on the slots (for my wife) plus I can sit in the sports/horse book all day and get free drinks, good company and a comfortable environment.

The Harrahs properties are not even looking at any more and I can stay at any of them for free. In other words, I would rather pay a nominal fee elsewhere than be exposed to their rundown rooms, terrible service and poor betting odds...like 6/5 on BJ.

Hope you have a better time on your next trip.

azbob......I betcha you are speaking of one (or 3 or 4) of these properties:

South Point
Red Rock
Golden Nugget
Stratosphere
Fitzgeralds
Orleans
Suncoast
Green Valley Ranch
Fiesta Rancho

Unless you bet huge money the casino's on the strip could give two fucks about you. The only casino on the Strip that gave a shit about me was NY, NY. I was playing Baccarat at 100 dollars a hand (big $ for me) and that caught their attention.

On the other hand when I played Baccarat at 100 dollar a hand at Fiesto Rancho the Casino Host almost licked my balls. And I placed a one thousand dollar bet on tennis match there just because I asked. Meaning they didn't have a line on any tennis matches. I asked em if they'd put it up (it was a Grand Slam tennis match). 30 minutes later, they did. If I asked for that at say, Harrahs, they tell me to fuck off:mj07:

Bottom line, stay far way from the Strip and you'll find the service much better. Of course if you bet huge every casino will lick your nuts.

Boggles my mind why service isn't better everywhere in Vegas, they are desperate for customers. Treat em nice and they'll come back.

In past three years I have spent roughly 7-9 months there.

I am heading back end of Feb.

I am by no means an expert, but I have been to almost every single casino/sportsbook in all of Vegas. Off top of my head I think I am missing 4 or 5 casinos. My goal is to say that I have been to every one.

Of course I lose at all of em:mj07:

Thanks for the list Kick.

I have stayed at and had a good experience at
South Point
Orleans
Palms
The M

If you can get an upgraded room the Gold Coast is also nice as they have a very good oriental restaurant.

The others on the list have great potential, I just can't recommend since I haven't stayed there. I do avoid the Strat because walking in that area is questionable (dangerous) due to it being so far rundown.

Southpoint will comp your entire stay with only limited play (they even comped my haircut and spa). They don't have a shutttle to the strip but, do pick-up/deliver to the airport. They also have great food options including a bar with $1 marquaritas regardless of the tequila brand.

The M is far out (I would suggest you get a car) but, it is upscale, the food very good for the value and they have a great sportsbook.

Orleans has a shuttle to the stip, rooms are good enough and they also have a wide variety of food options.

Of course all of tradtional odds on all games and you can actually win on the slots. They have pretty good give-aways too if you sign up for the various clubs.

Another option if to stay at the Rio (if you have Harrahs comps) and then walk to the Gold Coast and Palms with the shuttle to the strip also available.

If I can provide more detail let me know. I or we go about 4-5 times a year for about 20 years mainly during football season.

Be happy to help you out Hawk since I take advantage of your total plays. I did all I could to root for Iowa at the Copper Bowl plus I even spent four years in Iowa at Drake.

the silver legacy or the eldorado; they are right across the street from the bowling stadium downtown.
Do most of our gambling at the Cal-Neva. Best sportsbook in Reno and if you don't make eye contact with the homeless people you will be just fine....:142smilie

I'll be in Vegas at the end of October probably staying at the Golden Nugget downtown as the guys I'm going with always stay there or Fitzgeralds.
