Not sure if I qualify as a usual suspect, but I found the article really interesting (as far as I made it through so far). Will give it a good read all the way through and comment. Definitely a different way to think about things...some concerns spring to mind, but perhaps are addressed later in the article. One thought...a lease is one thing but say a foreign equity fund purchases land in US to construct some sort of infrastructure (key road, etc.) and then has a hold on transportation mode in our country legally...just thinking of the possibilities for a different kind of terror issue, or economic control issue by foreign interests in our country, that kind of thing. Very interesting, thanks for posting.

We've gone completely international regarding pretty much every facet of our country. We've made such a rush away from Keynesian principles in favor of total free market the last 20+ years that something like this was bound to happen. This is either an area where a line needs to be drawn or it's just another part of our economy that will benefit from globalization. ....Hard to say right now.

Was interesting Dooley--another area of privitization not mentioned here but has been going on for some time is prisons.

No doubt anyone can run things better and more efficient than government--but kind of scarey--and we all know that gov will find ways to squander the revenue it makes/saves on transition.

--and get everything within reason out of politicians/gov control
