Mike Vick Spent His First Night Out of Federal Custody Like Any Guy Would Have: At a Strip Club in Virginia Beach

Mike Vick, NFL, Strippers TheBigLead July 22nd. 2009, 10:50pm

Former NFL QB Mike Vick had been in prison for 19 months before being released into federal custody in May. Monday, he was released from federal custody. What was the first thing Vick did? The former Falcons QB went to Atlantis strip club in Virginia Beach, Virginia, according to a source who spotted him at the club and a DJ at the jiggle joint who did not want to be quoted by name. Vick was partying with NBA free agent Allen Iverson, the source and DJ both said.
After getting a tip from a reader Wednesday, and seeing this post at YBF saying the same thing, we called the club half a dozen times until we were able to get someone on the phone tonight around 10:15 pm. ?Monday?s are crazy here, it?s amateur night, and it?s packed,? said the DJ, who did not to be quoted. He checked with a few of the dancers about whether or not Vick and Iverson were present Monday and said, ?yup, both of them were here. It?s the first place I?d want to go as a free man, too.?
ESPN reported this week that Vick will soon be meeting with NFL commish Roger Goodell about a possible reinstatement. It doesn?t seem as if a strip club visit would be a barrier to his return to the NFL - surely even the stern Goodell could understand Vick?s first night excursion, right?
We?ve long thought that Vick has done his time and he should immediately be reinstated by Goodell. We?ve been Vick fans since we covered his first game at Virginia Tech, when he memorably flipped into the end zone during a 47-0 shellacking of James Madison. We thought he was the best player in the country as a freshman when Ron Dayne won the Heisman, we thought Vick did some great things in Atlanta despite a lack of quality WRs, and we thought - yeah, we?ll say it - he got shafted with a 23-month sentence in jail for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy.
They key word to remember in your meeting with Goodell, Mike: contrition.

my take...hard to believe...we shall find out..

Since when did going to a Strip Club become a bad thing or illegal??

He just got out of prison and he didn't go all Pac-Man Jones at the place. He was clearly low profile if nobody has pics.

Maybe the timing blew knowing he needs an image overhaul, but I am giving him a pass on doing something that is perfectly legal.

stories like this are perfect examples of why people who lust for fame and headlines do crazy shit, here is a man just quietly enjoying a legal activity and its important to report? I guess theres 40 reporters following Mike around waiting for him to pet a dog so they can have the 1st photos of him doing so. That is if the courts allow him to have pets or be within 500 ft of animals used as domestic pets.

Gimme a break

If you are trying to get back into the NFL after being in federal custody for 23 months, I would not be hanging out with another gangster Iverson, I say bad move by Mikey, he should stay out of the spotlight, lay low and quietly come back, give him free time and he will screw up enough to turn NFL execs off. I understand its legal to go to the strip club, just not the best decision after being in federal custody and wanting back into the NFL.

Cant believe the words are about to exit my mouth, but I agree with hedge on this one. If you cant see why this was a stupid thing for him to do then you are just blind. Is it legal yes, does it help him show he has changed the environment that landed him in jail to begin with NO. He can go to these places all he wants, but when the man that holds his future in the NFL in his hands tells him to fuck off and take your shit to the CFL no one should say a damn thing. As the saying goes, you cant fix stupid. Have fun mike and dont forget to make it rain:00hour

I never said it wasn't a great choice but dude was in prison and I am sure when he sits down with Roger he will tell him just that
I went, I minded my manners, and I left quietly without any scene.

Who knows maybe he went for the Buffet.:142smilie

I do agree that better judgment should have probably been used since he is trying to improve on America's image, but give me a break about making a big deal out of this.

Goodell is a commissioner of a freaking sports league and not an adviser to the pope.
Everyone thinks that not only do you have to stay out of trouble, but you have to live up to Goodell's morals.

I can guarantee you that Goodell has seen the Erin Andrews video.

I see your point. I can understand how chasin' down the pussy after all those long nights in the pen would be number one on the list.

Maybe he plans on seeing mom and his fiancee, and his three kids sometime this weekend?

Maybe......

He has been under house arrest and has seen them plenty of late.
Finally allowed to get away from those people in his life and enjoy a night out with some legal T&A.

Tough to call if the story is true as Vick lawyer says it is false.
Who do you believe a convicted Vick or strippers who say he was there?

RICHMOND, Va. AP)?Michael Vick?s(notes) lawyer vehemently denied reports Thursday that the suspended NFL star spent his first night of freedom from federal custody at a Virginia Beach strip club.
?It is absolutely, categorically false,? Lawrence Woodward told The Associated Press.
An Internet blog reported that Vick was seen at the strip club Atlantis on Monday night, hours after he completed his 23-month sentence for operating a dogfighting ring. Woodward said Vick was not in Virginia Beach that night and has not been to any strip club.
?He has been spending time with his family and friends and working with his advisers on legal matters and trying to get back to playing football,? Woodward said.
Vick also denied the reports in an interview with the Daily Press of Newport News.

?That?s crazy,? he told his hometown newspaper. ?That is the last place on my mind. I was out of town. I guess it?s just someone trying to be hurtful.?

Vick, 29, is expected to meet soon with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in hopes of getting his suspension lifted. Goodell has said Vick needs to show genuine remorse and that he has changed.
The commissioner said Tuesday that he hoped to make a decision ?in the near future.? NFL training camps open for veterans next week.
The blog thebiglead.com, which some newspapers referenced on their Web sites, quoted a DJ who refused to be identified as saying Vick was at Atlantis with NBA free agent Allen Iverson.
Leon Rose, Iverson?s agent, said the basketball star hasn?t seen Vick since the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback?s release from prison.
The voice mailbox at Atlantis was full and unable to accept messages Thursday.
Vick served most of his sentence at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., before being transferred to home confinement in late May. The electronic monitor he wore on his ankle during two months of home confinement in Hampton was removed Monday morning, freeing Vick from federal custody.
