I am planning on meeting a friend in KC to go to this game on the 23rd. We are both from Minnesota, but I will be visiting my kids in Missouri the days before the game, and will be heading to KC Saturday night - meeting my buddy somewhere there. We are planning to get a hotel room somewhere near the stadium for both Sat and Sun nights so we can really enjoy the experience (meaning get drunk as Vikings and not drive). Some thoughts...

Is our best option for tickets just to scan e-Bay or Craigslist? I'd guess we could find them cheaper than a local ticket broker, or walking up to the stadium that day. But, maybe not? Anyone know of anyone selling two tickets for that game? Any good local options for getting tickets?

Also, wondering if we can experience the tailgating if we don't drive and park in one of the lots there - seems like it's a no-brainer, but maybe they control those lots and you have to have a pass? We would also think about getting the package with the good lot parking pass so we could drive there and maybe tailgate some that way. I know it's an awesome tailgate party in KC.

Any ideas on a fairly decent hotel that's not too pricey in the stadium area? If we don't tailgate/drive, we probably will take a taxi to and from the game. Maybe some have a shuttle option to/from the hotel?

Thanks for any ideas. I am pretty familiar with the area there, just have never gone through this particular exercise, and want it to be a blast.

Hey Chadman, I will be going to that game and I have to agree with Vinnie that the best opton might be to get some tickets from some scalpers at the stadium, especially if they lose at Chicago this weekend. I am going to the Mizzou game on that Saturday, but will be back in town that evening and could show you a few good watering holes around town if you are interested. If you are wanting to do some drinking, I would stay at the Plaza as there are some good places to go to in that area.

Get my email from Jack if you want and I will try and help you out anyway I can.

Hey Chadman. I have been down there many times and have had really good luck getting tickets in the lobby of the Clarion right across the freeway from the stadium. Go there on Saturday night and just hang around and I am sure will get them.

I have stayed at the Drury, Clarion, and Holiday Inn and it it pretty sweet just walking to game and not worrying about getting in and out of the stadium.

Good luck.

I agree, get tickets at the concourse before the game. The only problem with staying at the Clarion (the old Adam's Mark Hotel) accross from Arrowhead is there are no bars in the area. Cab ride to the plaza and back will run ya close to a hundy.

My buddy just bailed on me, so I doubt I will make solid plans to go to the game and stay two nights. I might just drive up there, grab a cheap ticket, go to the game and drive on back to Minny after. Or, might just drive all the way back and listen to all the game on Sirius...cheaper, quicker, and safer...lol.

Thanks a lot for all the tips, guys. I still might look for something along these lines - Captain, I might try to hook up with you somehow there in KC for a bit. Maybe a few brews at Hooter's or something. We can sit around looking at the help, complaining about our CYGX investment...:mj07:

Anyone know what the ticket booth sells no show tickets for? Face value or reduced rate? What about after kickoff, something like that?

I might have a ticket for you in the club level, no charge. Two rules you have to agree to before I make a firm offer.:142smilie

1) there will be no politics discussed, period:nono:

2) if you're sportin some purple face paint or any type of goofy lookin head gear, we might have some issues there also:nono:

If you think you can abide by these rules :SIB then get my email from Jaek.:142smilie I will make sure I have one for sure by tomorrow, but I think one of ours is not getting used.

No charge? C'mon, man...surely I can kick up something for the privilege of a Chiefs game. As for your requirements, I'll have no problem with any of that. First of all, I grew up in SW Missouri, and have always been a Chiefs fan first and foremost. Otis Taylor and Derrick Thomas are STILL in my top five all time favorite players. I can wear one of many Chiefs sweatshirts and a nice new Chiefs cap, so don't worry about anything purple, although I have plenty of Vikes stuff, too. When in Rome...right? Definitely not going to wade into Arrowhead alone screaming "hey, everybody, kick my ass!"

As for politics...you won't hear a peep out of me about any of that. I mean, it's not like politics are remotely as important as football, for crissakes. I get more than enough political sparring here, believe me. This trip is about kids, a few days away from work, and maybe football if I'm lucky.

Not to be a stickler about knowing for sure for a terrific freebie...but if you can let me know for sure, I will reserve a hotel room for Sunday night close to the stadium, so I can really enjoy myself that day. I'll hit up Jack for your e-mail addy, and send you one. Thanks very much for the offer...I will get with you soon.
