Vikings coach Mike Zimmer will miss Thursday night's game against the Cowboys after having emergency surgery to repair a detached retina on Wednesday.
GM Rick Spielman said Zimmer sitting out this week was "for the best interest of his health." Like the Broncos did earlier this season, the Vikings will have special teams coordinator Mike Priefer fill in as the interim head coach as to not disturb the offensive or defensive routines.
Zimmer had planned to have this surgery on Friday, so it is likely he will be ready in time to coach Week 14 against the Jaguars.
