Padilla looks like a lock for the 5th spot of the Phillies rotation. His stuff is absolutely nasty and it appears from last season stint in AAA and now spring training that he has found the command to be successful in the Big leagues.
The reason I post this, Padilla will start the season with low chalk or even dog money lines. He will be matched up against 5 starters wich means RUN SUPPORT, ( I like the Phillies offense alot myself this season). Would anyone else ring in here and offer thoughts on this?
Barry Larkin's qoute "Padilla is the best pitcher in baseball" I wouldn't quite go that far but this says alot about the command of his nasty sinking pitches.
I guess when you throw in the high 90's from a funky arm angle with a devastating slider and sinker and your hitting spots there is a good reason for Larkin to pay him such a compliment. Also, Tony Larussa told Larry Bowa to hit his team fungos between innings so they wouldn't get bored that's another sign of a huge sleeper in the making.
