I really hate the level of journalism as it relates to health in science.
It's always sensational and lacking in basic information.

First of all the title is somewhat misleading. The CDC guy says it could be the tip of the iceberg. I read that as "it also could NOT be". Anything "might" be something, but absent numbers who knows?

And then let's talk numbers, they have quotes from various medical professionals saying "more than ever before... unprecedented... etc etc. They also provide some data on how many children are being hospitalized.
The huge huge huge missing piece of data is how many children were admitted under similar circumstances in previous years. Without that data we have no true evidence as to whether this is more than in the past. Where's the data?

How a journalist for CNN can publish an article without that key data amazes me. It is literally the first thing I would ask.
