it's -160/+120, opened around -130/-110.

Am I crazy or should this line be significantly higher? Vitali is 37, always injured, inactive. He has poor footwork and is likely to stand right in front of Peter's clubbing shots, has lacklustre defense and speed, untested conditioning, and mediocre opposition.

Peter is not spectacular himself, but he has the advantages here. The only way I can see Vitali winning is he punches straight to counter Peter's looping punches, but who's to say he wont get caught himself? And whos to say he has enough to stop Peter? Vlad hit him with faster more accurate and straighter bombs. The longer this goes the long Peter's younger and more durable body has the advantage.

Perhaps its the location? Peter will be warned repeatedly, maybe DQed, for rabbit punching, and could lose a bogus decision?

To sum: why arent people jumping on Peter?

edit - didnt open at -130/-110, opened yesterday, my bad.

I actually saw the line as high as +200 Peter yesterday

i guess the line setters think being in Germany is a huge advantage

but I give Peter a good chance of winning this fight

Vitali could pull a muscle at any point and quit

truthfully, though,

I don't have a ton of confidence in either of these guys

Peter +200????? THATS INSANE! Was it at 5d? Im assuming you mortgaged your house on it?

I played Peter -130 and -140 this morning, the limit was still to win 100$. My intention is to hedge later. Who the heck would bet the juice on an aged, fragile Klitschko that seemed hesitant to fight Hasim friggin Rahman. Peter has been waiting forever for this match and payday, he should be hungry as a mutha

being in Gemrany is an advantage, but this bout is televised by showtime and is for a title, bringing in more likely neutral judges. And does anyone see this going 12? Id doubt Vitali has the stamina for it

I can see several point deductions for rabbit punching though

nice catch ghost kid, a free 100$ is nothing to scoff at. i thought it opened this morn, its odd for it to still be at 100$ limits the day after.

i dont know much about this business, but from viewing 5d's past lines, it doesnt look like theyre using strong capping services or opinions, some openers are total head-scratchers. im not sure if lines makers thought that was a good line or if some rogue at 5d put it up. when I see a pinnacle line open for example, it's accurate, and safe to say it's how the pros capped it.

and so theres no confusion, manny steward doesnt train vitali, only vlad.

Yea, but for Peter, that hungry could translate into pounding TV dinners. Not the best stamina going. Peter's pretty much looked horrible lately IMO. I was quite shocked to see him on the deck 3 times and really hurt against mental midget McCline. I thought if anything Peter had a solid chin and now, no. Maybe Vlad cracked it with those bombs and that 12trh round left hook. I thought he looked like crap against an old, creaky Maskaev also, like he's gone backwards since clearly beating ex super middleweight Toney. Then there's Britaly Vitali, but it's in Germany and the way he stood up to Lennox bombs, I like him +120 and higher.

If Vitaly is still half the fighter he once was, he will win.

But, after the long layoff, thats the big question...

As punchy pointed out, Peter hasnt looked good lately...

i guess it's a question of how you rate vitali. his claim to fame is a tko loss to lennox lewis, after that he destroyed hall-of-famers corrie sanders and a blob named kirk johnson. he beat danny williams who was out to lunch.

that was 2 injury-plagued years ago

peter looked bad against mcline, but i heard
rumors about him having a badly hurt eardum in sparring, i can find a link if i scour for it. the shots that put him on queer street were fairly light, especially compared to vlad's shots. he also took some tough shots from maskaev without blinking.

the shots that seem to hurt peter most are hooks he doesnt see, vitalis punches are fairly mechanical and predictable.

maskaev put up a good showing vs peter and fought at a comfortable tempo before getting caught, i would rate hhis performance that better than vitali's recent opponents.
