7-2 YTD +$445 on Vols games

Vols (9-11) vs Awbarn (12-8)

Line: Vols -9
O/U: 119

Vols are 8-3 at home
Tiggers are 1-5 on the road

This game is a tough one for me to cap. The line says grab the points, but digging into Auburn's wins, none of them make you very confident that they will cover. There is a reason why they have 12 wins:
McNeese St.
Kennesaw St.
Nicholls St.
Ark. Pine-Bluff
South Florida
North Florida
Georgia Southern
Bethune-Cookman

Road win - @ Hawaii
SEC wins vs Ole Miss and South Carolina

I don't really understand why Auburn felt the need to play damn near every SWAC team pre-conference, but whatever. I will say this, they have been playing better lately, esp. on the road. They are 2-2 in their last four, with the two losses coming at LSU by 7, and at Arkansas by only 5. Auburn has only played one top 25 team, and lost.

By contrast, the Vols have played seven top 25 teams, winning two at home - vs Florida and UConn last week. The Vols are coming off a beat down by Vandy at Memorial on Tuesday. The 'Dores won by 18, but it wasn't that close. The last time the Vols lost by 18 was to Memphis. Three days later, they put a beat down on Florida by 11 at home - pre-Stokes! This time, you throw Jarnell Stokes into the mix, and this game sets up well for the Vols I believe.

Both teams get after you defensively, and that is clearly the focus for both coaching staffs. I do think Coach Martin gives the Vols a little more freedom at home, and I expect them to try and get some points in transition today.

The Vols have gone under the total for seven straight games. I think, and hope, that the Vandy game taught them a lesson, in the fact that they have to be more aggressive on the offensive end if they want to come back.

Auburn has two players that cannot get into foul trouble - 6'8 Kenny Gabriel, and 6'1 Frankie Sullivan. They are clearly the leaders on this team, and 6'2 Chris Denson can also fill it up. One thing Auburn does not have is depth, only six players have more than 300 minutes played. Contrast that to the Vols having eight players with more than 300 minutes, and that doesn't include Jarnell Stokes, who just joined the team four games ago.

The Vols can throw four different guys at Gabriel:
Stokes - 6'8 250
Maymon - 6'7 265
Kenny Hall - 6'9 225
Woolridge - 6'9 215

I like the size advantage in the back-court as well. Cam Tatum at 6'7, J. Rich at 6'6, and J. Mac at 6'5, could provide some bad match-up problems for Auburn.

I think with the Vols having to go through three days of practice with an angry Coach Martin will be more than enough to get them motivated. Auburn has to be disappointed in a close loss at Arkansas, so the motivation factor is in UT's corner for this one.

Total has gone up a point and a half, so liking that move. Line is staying at 9 for now, so liking these a little more now.

Give Coach Martin time and we will be "that team" that no one wants to play. I am 100% behind this guy.

Dooley - eh, not so much:mj07:
