I really like the Dawgs today. I feel like they have kind of been lost in the shuffle with how well UCLA has played lately, but they are a still a very good team. They're not as good as last year but they have done very well considering they lost Simmons, Conroy and Robinson from last year's team. Brandon Roy is one of the best players in the nation, he just doesn't get the same pub some of the other guys get because the media thinks that Seattle is located 5 miles due east of Moscow.
The Huskies have been playing very well lately, winning 9 of their last 10. The one loss was a horror show, when they decided not to show up in the 2h of the Pac-10 tourney vs. Oregon. This may sound weird but I'm actually kind of glad they got that game out of their system. They were due for a clunker and that was certainly a clunker. They are playing with a bit of a swagger now and they are using the "no respect" card. Contrary to popular opinion they are not just happy to be here.
As for the game, I think it might be the best one of the day. Both teams have good guard play and guys who can shoot. Augustine is a very good player down low, and he definitely has some height on the Huskies, but they have Williams and Brockman down low, two guys who love to bang and play physical D. And while I think Roy will have a big game for the Dawgs, I also think one or more of the more unsing players might step up. Watch out for Appleby... that kid can shoot the lights out.
I think it will be a good game but I think in the end the Dawgs will win by 5 or more. Good luck to all...
