haha, I know they did not make a bowl game this year. And most of you guys don't give a rip about them, but it was just on my mind so I'd thought I'd share what the future has in store for this team. I'm not saying they will win it all, but they will definately go to a bowl game and turn some heads.

When Reggie Bush was asked what defender stuck out in his head all year, guess who he said? #42 from Hawaii. whom later got injured in that game and sat out for the rest of the season. FS Leonard Peters (#42) will be back for next year. Hawaii will also be getting back thier whole defensive line and most of their linebackers. On top of that Glanville is coming back and he will be able to implement more complicated defensive schemes now that his defense learned the basics. Not to mention some big additions are coming.

Offensively, I feel they will be almost unstopable. Their QB Brennan is coming back. RB Ilaoa is coming back, and will take it seriously over the offseason. In case you weren't aware Ilaoa reported to camp overweight. Thus it took most of the season for him to get back in shape. Not to mention Jazen Anderson (Jamal Anderson's brother) is going to play for Hawaii next year. SB Bess and Grice Mullen will be back as well. Bess might have a shot at the NFL when its all said and done, he was only a freshman and I've seen him make some spectacular catches. Not to mention the SB who started in front of Bess is coming back as he was injured in the USC game. WR Jason Rivers will also be back after a leave of absence for grades and personal reasons which i will not mention on this board. Hawaii's offensive line will be strong as usual.

Only sad thing is Hawaii will not be playing any really good teams next year. No USC. no Wisconsin. But there is still Fresno St and Boise St on the road, which could be a test enough for them. We'll see how they do on the road. If you have read this whole post, you are either a hawaii fan, or just really bored. anyways gotta get headed to Mai Tais now, take it easy

hawaii is not that far off at all. like you said, they were extremely young this year. but when this team finally does come together, whether or not it will be next year or two years from now, they will be a legit team. i can seriously see bess being a better receiver than ashley lelie. obviously bess is a lot smaller in stature but he's just as explosive.

did hear, however, that theres a chance glanville could pursue the job at northern michigan. if he leaves, that would be a big hit because he was doing some good things with that side of the ball.

they need a deffensive line first....I don't know how many poinst they are allowing but I'm sure its a freaking ton....I like the HI QB though.

I think they should prolly recruit some new defensive squad but if they are young who knows of the potential.

hawaii is almost always an easy late night winner against the line at home. made a few bucks finishing my day with them over the years.

honolulu, Hi, USA
Hey Soljah - you forgot to mention that Hawaii opens up the 2006 season at Alabama. That should be very interesting!

I agree with your write-up. My only concern will be Hawaii's defense and special teams play. Remember, their special teams cost them the Boise St and Fresno St games. Also, Jones better get off his "ego trip" and put in more running plays. If that gets going, then their offense could possibly be unstoppable. BUT, the key, and you can quote me, will be the need to improve their defense and special teams play. Jones has all the offensive weapons so now he needs to concentrate his recruiting in the "D" area. Think about it - he has coached Hawaii for what, 7 or 8 years and EVERY year, his DEFENSE SUCKS big time. Time for him to get his head out of his A-- and do something about it! Otherwise, a lot of fair weather fans will be calling for his scalp.
JMHO.

:iagree: hawaii next year has alot of talent coming back they graduated only 14 seniors this year. they will probably have a big hole to fill on the o- line with samson satele for going his senior season to enter the draft he is said by some to be a mid to late 1st round pick. on the defesive side of the ball hawaii still will need to improve. soloman eliminian will be an animal at line backer. kenny patton is said will move to slot back making room for sophmore aj martinez to start. their d-line should be in tact next year. they should bring an experienced and more physical defense next year. and as for jerry glanville he will be on the sidelines for hawaii he already confirmed that. offense well what can u say they will be better than last years offense that chang operated. talent wise they will be better. bess and grice mullen shall both make all wac and brennan we be better than chang next year. brennan is not flashy but awfully smart he takes what the defenses gives him and will not force a throw. thats the difference between chang and brennan. brennan has all the tools to be a great quarterback. bess and mullen are similar to chad owens a cut and slash receiver with alot of speed. their offensive line has been playing since they were freshman so i say next year will be really fun to watch.
