BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Carldell "Squeaky" Johnson had 13 points, five assists, and four steals to lead UAB to an 84-54 victory over Tulsa on Wednesday night.
UAB (11-3, 1-0 Conference USA) forced a school-record 39 turnovers and finished with 21 steals.

Lawrence Kinnard scored 10 points for the Blazers.
Anthony Price had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead Tulsa (5-9, 0-1).
The Golden Hurricane outrebounded UAB 44-22, but UAB's 39-8 advantage in turnovers made the difference.
It was the second game for the Blazers without their No. 2 scorer, Demario Eddins, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon.
UAB started off slowly and fell behind 9-4, but a jump shot by Kinnard garnered a 12-11 lead and the Blazers never looked back.
An 18-0 run late in the first half helped UAB to a 47-23 halftime lead.
The Blazers lead by as many as 38 points in the second half.
