ive been sittting here watching the news for about 2 hours now...
flipping back and forth between fox and msnbc...

on fox ive seen plenty of coverage about the new weapons that were found today.... they are meant for carrying chemical weapons and what not....

even more interesting fox had lots of footage with a Iraqi defector.. the defector was a soldier who said they were being forced to fight... and if they didnt they would be shot.. he also said that SoDamn Insane.. (i mean hussain) is ready and willing to use chemical weapons against the americans and their troops..

i also saw footage about Saddam booby-trapping oil fields and other areas in Iraq..

then news came about the unmanned drone found by inspectors that is used for dropping chemical bombs.. and is a violation..

wow what a news day...

you know what i saw on MSNBC??? nothing,,,, they have not mentioned the booby traps.. nor the defector.. and hardly have mentioned the new weapons found.. nothing about the drone...

i did see however plenty of footage of Celebrities... Jessica Lange has joined the protestors.. and they are interviewing her tonight!!

wow cant wait for that..

then they showed a poll they had taken showing that 66% of the public is not happy with the direction of the country.. ( funny i never got a call)

then more footage of protestors..

then more celebrities..

then a show called " the democrats and the war issue"

phuking liberal media.. they wont even cover the important news if it supports bush and the upcomming war:thefinger

just tired of seeing this year in and year out..

i dont know why i even watch that channel it just pisses me off:thefinger

Im strarting to think CNN headline news is best to watch if you wish to keep your cool. They just repeat the news every 30 minutes. They have a weather guide to one side. They have a sports ticker. Not agreat sports ticker but they cover the most inportant items. Thay have what was said from white house. They have what other networks have. BUT the best thing is no talking heads from either side to spew there BS on all of us. I mean sure they show reports of the day. But they dont try to fool anyone by adding there expert opinion. You can see it all in 30 minutes early in the day and get the update later on. Dont have to sit there and get pissed. Becasue every day I watch the main ones MSNBC,FOX,CNN im pissed. To many folks at these places think they know all this inside chit. They dont know anything our government dont want them to know about 98% of the time.

This is CNN

This is CNN

I know they are slightly slanted but I like CNN. When I don't have a lunch appointment, I usually end up at home for LIVE FROM on CNN. These guys have people everywhere. You think the military is spread out? During this show CNN has the top 10 places worldwide that are making news and a correspondant in each location. I know some do double time with newspapers and sometimes local TV stations but still the video hook-up alone is impressive.

Fox news seems to be there to stir up sh-t. NBC seems too hollywood. CNN gets my vote Headline news or regular. If I could only take TALK BACK off the station. If I cared what ignorant Atlantians thought I would e-mail Scott. :)

Blazer,

I read that Talk Back was cancelled, so I hope this made your day(LOL).

I find cnn to be very boring, but still watch it along with the other news channels.

Hey Gibber:

Got a question. Why is MSNBC biased and FoxNews not biased. Inquiring minds want to know.

Could it be that the right wing spin fox puts on there news comports more to your personal beliefs????

Come on Gibby, be honest. The bottom line is that we all have our beliefs, then we go out and look for confirmation. Thats the reality.

For every member of the "liberal" media you can find an equal and just as biased member of the "conservative" media. Why do you think Hannity and Colmes does well.

Have a dose of reality.

Wow Eddie, for a lawyer you sometimes make a decent amount of sense. I must stop reading the forum now because twice today I have agreed with Haskell, and thats twice the legal limit.

taoist, be real. CNN is all over the world and not just by telephone. I believe there service is excelent. However like i said above. The main MSNBC,Fox,CNN all have the same thing to many experts tomany know it all,s. Thats why I like CNN Headline News. Nice weather ticker, sport ticker. News update every hour for anyhting important. Lets the folks that made the statement stand on its own. No BS shows like Hard Ball, Hannity and Colmes, Gretta what ever her last name is. thats a real beauty that show. I call it a show because it's much like O'Rilley and Larry King. No real news just BS. Thats what is nice about CNNHLN dont have any of that junk. Now you may here someone say something you dont like. But everyone does now and then. Thats better then believeing there is not two sides to any debate.

So Cal
I do watch a little bit of Fox and have to admit it tilts very noticeably to the right. Even though I like him O'Reilly is pretty much a Limbaugh clone, but deals more with daily issues than political philosophy. He is alos known to castigate the guilty party regardless of side. But, he is clearly to the right. Tony Snow is a pretty solid news guy and at least in my opinion, very intelligent, more cerebral than most newsmen. Hannity is just a better looking version of O'Reilly. No one happier than me to see the blithering idiot Donohue sent packing - there are so many that could espouse his viewpoints but in an intelligent manner rather than a caricature of a buffoon. There is no doubt media bias - but now, for one of the few times in history, it goes both ways. However, your major networks are still leaning to the liberal side. The popularity of Fox News gives an interesting spin (with apologies to O'Reilly) as it possibly indicates that the American populace to drifting in that direction. It is an interesting topic for discussion.

dave,

...my tv (much like nolan's) is mostly in off mode, but when it's on...it's either CNN or ESPN.... I also like the "no frills" CNNHLN over the regular old communist new network, fox or msnbc...love the ticker and it's the only clock in the living room.

...it was just a one-liner, you know? ;)

...alright who's going to come up with the best one-liner for CNNHLN?

...how about...

Ferville:

In my most arrogant tone of voice, I will tell you why Fox News is more popular than a more left bent news network. Similar to corporate (talk) radio. liberal or moderate based newscasts do not sell. Hence the popularity of Limbaugh, Liddy, Fox, etc.

I think you would agree with me (if not then your wrong) that the majority of those who voted republican in the last election would be more inclined to listen to corporate radio and watch Fox than they would listen to NPR or watch CBS news. Conversely, with those that voted democratic.

Is it that the country is growing more to the right, maybe. But I believe the real reason Fox is growing in popularity is that those of the right-wing political bent are more adamant about seeking those programs that comport to their respective belief system.

Same reason why republicans will go to the poles with more regularity than democrats. You know the old saying if the weather is bad democrats will stay away from the poles. The right is stronger in their beliefs while the left is more lax.

As you could probably guess, I prefer to get my news from NPR. It's funny though, I do not think All Things Considered and Morning Edition are biased to the left. I think they fairly present both sides of a story. I'm sure you'll disagree.

I always find it funny when people talk about the liberal media. I don't know about you but here in Cincinnati our print media and electronic media couldn't be more conservative, Christian right wing. Can't read the local paper, got to get the Times or Post for my written news.

Praise be the word of Eddie.

New Media sucks plain and simple, IMO.

Being of conservative nature, I actually love NPR.

Eddie--Cincy has great sports talk in the morning. I used to love listening to "Two Angry Guys." Is that program still on?

And once again to everyone...
Easy on Atlanta!

Our sports talk is great if you don't want to watch CNN. Go to The Zone (No connection to ESPN) . I started listening even more when they dropped that loud mouth arrogant ass, Jim Rome!

Eddie--you have to remember, though, that most popular doesn't mean best!:p

Eddie - are you intimating that Republicans are inherently more intelligent than Democrats? I can't agree with that, most of our college campuses are fully stocked with professors espousing the Democratic viewpoint. I do agree with your analysis on why Fox is more popular - Fox is giving a segment of the population what they want to hear, whether it is accurate, speculation, biased, etc. People will always respond to what they want to hear - even if it means distorting the truth (sorry, shouldn't say that around lawyers). Actually, I am an Independent. I admit to voting for "W", but in my mind it was a lesser of two evils. I probably preferred Lieberman to any of the 4 top guys. Hopefully, most of the citizens can separate the leans of networks, newspapers and the like and try to find a balance. The truth is bound to be somewhere in the middle.
