Why do we allow : brand named toys with lead based paint in them to poison our children ? Why do we allow our pets /DOGS to be poisoned by the food we feed them but get so out raged by a Vick because he killed a few for sport. Why do we allow 3rd rate leadership, filled with hypocrisy to govern us ? Why do we allow history to repeat, the waste of American life, trying to impose our will on others, while we debate abortion and stem cell research ? Why do we allow & accept the money we pay to literate our children wash away with the same money our government has air marked to fix our bridges and levies ? Why do we allow the billions that are air marked for defense and intelligence to be squandered and our lack of leadership shrug at events like 911 ? Why do we act like imbeciles and line up for slaughter like sheep and cows ? Why don't we act like the free thinking people that we are and stop this debate, a debate that has led & is leading to the genocide of our people. The debate we our engaged in, only two parties can win. Democrats and Republicans, the American People lose every time. Can you believe Hershey kisses were imported from Mexico with salmonella ? Why do we need peanut butter from India with illegal pesticides & other toxic compounds ? Not only is the dollar a joke, we owe it to country's like china for their poison sea food and toys. WHY ????? We know the Republicans are every man for himself. I can live with that because I can get mine ! The Democrats , those bleeding hart fools are for the poor and the uneducated that these two parties have created. If you ask Ms Clinton about the atrocity committed on Black Americans that came here as slaves and the system that kept those people down by making it illegal to educate them. She would get all terry eyed and condemn that. What is she doing about the millions of Americans, most of them poor and white that breed like cat and dogs with 3rd generation grandparents in their 40's that can't read, think or comprehend because of the poison in the drugs legal and illegal, and the poison in our food that our government looks the other way on. ? Nothing has changed in America, It all comes back to education or the lack of education as the main tool of controlling the masses ! Think about it !

Great post. I think it is not only lack of education, but also miseducation. I picked up the newest Utne the other day (Oct 2007 issue) because the headline caught my eye: "History Lessons: What we're taught and what's ignored".

A lot of what we think is true or what the hegemon wants us to believe is actually quite false. It just takes more time to get to the truth, which means less time doing mindless things like watching TV and going to McDonalds for dinner.

But until people wake up, yes - we are just sheep being mindlessly led. And unfortunately it is too easy to exist that way in America.

Well, i learned one thing from this post. I thought they were called ear marks. Never knew they were called air marks. I must have sounded like an idiot saying ear marks all these years. Let me break some news to people. I know some very intelligent people who just blow me away when it comes to being book smart. Hell, there is a ton of them at Madjacks. You can have all the book smarts you want but if you can't figure out when your being conned and when you are being swindled then you need to either learn how or just throw in the towel. Im gonna show you all one of the biggest con jobs in our country and its called sports wagering. Its just as bad as politics.

Maybe you could back up your opinion with some fact bryanz

Could you inform us just laws we have that cause balcks to lead in in dropping out rates of free high school education--have double the unemployment rate of anyone else--lead in wellfare entitlements-crime-incararation and any statistics you wish to choose?--Then elaborate how these laws single out one race over Hispanics -Asians or any other race.

--do the facts support your opinion--or dictate your just another failing to take responsibilty for your own fate- with an opinion?

--and by the way--how did all the successful black people overcome adversity--you think maybe they took the initiative to control their own fate.

Let me inform you of the obvious--most those Black-White Asian or whatever that succeed in life do so because of their ambition and work habits--the black-white asians ect that don't succeed or those that lack the same.

It would be for more beneficial for you and others to look for reasons that lead to success than look for reasons for failure. ;)

I learned one thing from this post, we are all limited by what we chose to be open to and what we chose to see & ignore. I'm glad you learned something but that was not my point. I was thinking out loud, I have never used the phrase earmarked before in print and book smarts has nothing to do with my thoughts about education. Teaching a person to become literate gives that person the ability and the opportunity to comprehend and think for themselves. I do believe parents have a major roll to play in this and that is why my 3rd generation comment was so important. You must have special ears. I can't tell the difference between the sound of air marked and earmarked. I guess you make my point for me. Your kind of thinking, comprehension and focus; is what allows us to allow what we allow. Thanks !

What you think I said, I didn't say. I guess your comprehension skills are not that good. I do AGREE WITH YOUR ARGUMENTS, FOR WHAT YOU THINK I SAID. WE COULD'T AGREE MORE !!!

When I referenced the fact that it was illegal to teach blacks to read, I was talking about that time period when it was; and the fake outrage that most politicians like her have for that time in history. I was comparing that same fake out rage to the fake outrage they display about our educational situation in America now. I think that analogy is were I lost you. I'll say it again. I agree with all your points, we all have to look inward for the reasons for our success and failures. I guess we all see and ignore what we chose to. How many times do I say : WHY DO WE ALLOW / WHY DO WE ALLOW / WHY DO WE ALLOW ???? WE IS, YOU AND I AND OTHERS. You may not like what I say, that's one thing .Why put something on me that is not there ?

I know people like that, come check out the north and west sides of syracuse. There are more white people that are poor in #'s than any other group in our country.

School is not free in America. School taxes are very high in this part of my America. Just so you know, blacks may have a bigger percentage on welfare and entitlements but when you look at total #'s, there are far more white people lining up and cashing checks than all the other groups combined. Google "whites on welfare " ; do a little comprehending.

bryanz, you're an intriguing poster. I at first thought you were a raving lunatic left wing liberal, but you pretty much condemn all politicians regardless of party. You also seem to be proud that you are an American. I wonder about some of the same things you do. Interesting rant.

My question to you is this; what do you propose as a solution to these problems? How are you going to accomplish this?

I'm just asking the questions, I don't think there are any solutions for the masses. We would have to get rid of apathy and vote every incumbent out in every election on the local, state and federal level. We would need near 100% participation from our fellow Americans to vote. That's not going happen ! We would need Americans to value the freedom that most of us do not understand and embrace it. I'm talking about a mindful , peaceful, revolution. Marches on state houses, weakly marches on the white house. This republican/democrat stuff has been going on my whole life, I don't see the value in it for the people. I'm not complaining for me and my family, we do better than most. I look around me and wonder why do free people Allow those that govern us to do what they do to us. We have it easy in this country. We don't have to pick up guns to change the landscape; all we have to do is vote. I don't believe that leadership in this country want's the American Dream to be lived. Why do free people allow them not to deliver the basics we pay them to deliver ? I truly believe that the stranglehold these two parties have on this country would be lost if more people could comprehend what is being done to them. Keeping the masses apathetic and stupid is part of the plan. They are laughing at us and most of us are to stupid to care. The only solution is a long term one. We have to help each other. Help one person care about their American Dream.

Two things you could possibly try to get people to get informed and vote. 1. have a draft and everyone is in it and not just a few groups. If that doesn't move families to get involved then give the lazy fukers 10 percent off there tax bill to vote. If that doesn't work you can try to give them a free cable bill and that might move the lazy(im not gonna vote because im convinced it means nothing) fuker.

It's not just expecting more from our lawmakers... we need to expect more of ourselves as citizens.
No matter how great your elected officials and government are, nothing can beat getting involved your community.

Picking up a piece of trash, or getting to know your neighbor. Small shit really adds up in improving the quality of life.

I'd rather things improved from the ground up, than have some 1% chance of more honestly/successful elected officials figuring out how to fix everyone's problems.

Nice post, agree with some of your thoughts, but I am stumped on this one... hope you can clarify it for me. I've read it a few times and can't seem to connect the dots.

Did we really allow it to happen? Like, are you saying that we knew about it and chose to let it continue on purpose? I thought with the problems of the imported toys with lead based paint they clamped down on that pretty quick with the recalls and stopsales of the products in question. Same with the dogfood... I never really did hear the exact cause of it.. but wasnt it pretty widely disseminated info to stop feeding your pets certain foods and stores were pulling them off the shelf once it was found out?

your missing your calling Andy Rooney

Why does the government (we?) give free money away to capable people and expect nothing in return? And nobody from the Left (here) or Right is interested in stopping it?

IMO posters like Bryanz, PF, and BDB have a lot to say and I think have forgotten more than I know about a great many things. The constant and incessant negative rants kind of kill the message for some. It's also the topics. Of course the government sucks. So does death and taxes. I'm sure those topics are next on the list. They could learn a thing or two from a pro crank like YYZ who has a much better delivery but is of the same constant "red ass" mentality.

They can't change the game they can only change the rules.

You can't beat city hall. It's not like many don't agree with these posts. They are generally of the "duh" variety. It's that many understand we have only one live to live it the best we see fit. If I gots the time to plug in a march or two for Mr Bryanz, I might even follow him. Right now I have a very important mission. Cutting my grass. Sorry.
