hard to evacuate people who don't want to be evacuated isn't it? Heaven forbid they were made to leave; you would have had another thread on here about us losing our liberty.

You are right, there wasn't a single person that wanted help leaving NO . The Americans that were in Lebanon, new the risk when they went there. The Americans in NO, new the risk by staying with a flood coming. The difference was, once the danger presented it self, the Americans in Lebanon were given the option of help in a timely manner.

By that attitude, 6-5, we should not be helping anyone leave Lebanon. In fact, those Americans are even more at fault because they all had a choice to locate there. Most people in New Orleans never had that choice.

The point is, after everyone saw how bad it was, it still took the powers that be (not blaming any branch more than other because they all fvcked New Orleans) several days just to provide water and keep some people alive. But in Lebanon, our citizens get personal military escorts to safety.

Does our government care more about Americans in Lebanon than Americans in New Orleans? For some strange reason, it's obvious that they do.

And look at the news coverage. For christ's sake, it's as if Israel is the 51st state! We get more coverage on this conflict than we do our very own war a couple countries away. This is getting far more coverage than Katrina. What country are we?

bryan, you're saying that nobody in New Orleans was helped in a timely manner?? Also, I think there were a few more in NO than in Lebanon, don't you?? How can you even compare the 2 events?

Smurph, I never said we shouldn't have helped our citizens leave Lebanon. We should have. All I've heard is how slow we evacuated Lebanon. The comparison between these 2 events also does not make sense to me.

11,700 were given a choice in a timely manner. The response in NO was not even close to the response in Lebanon. I don't think this can be disputed. From where I sit, the view is clear and our Government did its job in one place and failed in the other.
