He was a great guy indeed, Loop.
When he first moved to Iowa City, he managed a golf course in Muscatine. We spent many afternoons golfing and drinking and talking sports.
He was in the Yankees farm system briefly as a young man so getting him started talking baseball was easy.
After he had a couple of surgeries on his shoulder he retired and our meetings shrank in frequency as I no longer lived In Iowa City by then.
R.I.P, Wayne. It was a pleasure knowing you.
