Domi out? Hackett in goal

Domi out? Hackett in goal

thanks infinii. Let's see how long I can keep it up!

Leafs having more trouble with injuries.

"Toronto is already missing No. 1 goaltender Curtis Joseph (broken hand), sniper Alexander Mogilny (cracked vertebra), defenceman Dmitry Yushkevich (blood clot in leg), defenceman Jyrki Lumme (suspended) and defenceman Wade Belak (flu)."

and now maybe Tie Domi out. whole article here:

http://waymoresports.thestar.com/NA...977887509&call_pagepath=MapleLeafs/MapleLeafs

Montreal Gazette reports:

"Curiously, the Canadiens are scheduled to start Jeff Hackett in goal tonight. That will only add more fuel to the speculation Montreal is showcasing the veteran for a possible trade before the March 19 trade deadline, especially since the last time he faced the Bruins, Dec. 20, Hackett was on the losing end of a 5-0 score."

Salo in

Salo in

this from Edmonton Journal tuesday:

MacTavish had indicated he would start Salo in Tampa Bay on Wednesday -- even if Markkanen made 60 stops against Buffalo.

"Will we keep riding Jussi?

Uh ... no. We're going back with the bread and butter,'' laughed MacTavish.

"Tommy has played a lot of hockey (only Martin Brodeur, 3,324 minutes; and Jocelyn Thibault, 3,210, have had more work than Salo's 3,178) and we wanted him to recharge his batteries.''

Aebischer in goal

Aebischer in goal

so sez Rocky Moutain News. Usually accurate:

-- David Aebischer will start in goal for the Avalanche tonight. He has gone 9-5-0 this season with a 1.92 goals-against average, and he has recorded shutouts in the past two games he has started -- a 6-0 Feb. 8 win at Minnesota and a 2-0 win Jan. 24 at Calgary. He will take a shutout streak of 135 minutes, 9 seconds into the game tonight.

By the way, thanks for all you do TerryRay.

TB goalie rotation, Lang out

TB goalie rotation, Lang out

finally got info on what TB will do with no backup goalie:

GOALIE ROTATION: Simply put, there will be none, or very little.

Khabibulin will play almost all of Tampa Bay's remaining 21 games. If Khabibulin needs a rest, Dieter Kochan will step in. But in an interesting twist, Kochan will remain with AHL Springfield until he is needed, as the team feels he can use the constant work. He will fly down when scheduled to play.

In the meantime, Evgeny Konstantinov, 19, a highly regarded prospect playing for ECHL Pensacola will be on the bench during games for use in emergencies only.

VINNY'S BACK: After missing four games with a chipped bone in his left ankle, Lecavalier, who has six goals in his past 12 games, was scheduled to return to action Wednesday against the Oilers.

MOVES: To make room for Willis and Dingman, the Lightning returned forwards Ryan Tobler and Dmitry Afanasenkov to AHL Springfield.

Damian Cristodero covers the Tampa Bay Lightning for the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times.

And poor Pitt have more injuries. Lang out with broken bone:

Detroit tidbits

Detroit tidbits

Detroit 12-1-1 last 14 at home

Hasek is 10-1-3 last 14 starts at home

10 of those 12 Detroit home wins by 2 goals or more! Went into OT with Van and Ott.

Detroit 1-5 vs Toronto by 2 goals or more in last 6 meetings in Detroit. Leafs won four of 'em. (going back to '98)

Detroit injury update excerpt from Ansar Khan's piece in Booth newspapers:

"Right wing Darren McCarty has had his infected right index finger operated on and will sit out another week. Igor Larionov will return to the lineup tonight after missing two games with a sore knee. Defenseman Fredrik Olausson didn't practice Tuesday because of the flu and isn't likely to play tonight. That would leave the Wings with no healthy scratches. "

and the usual ones are out: Legace, Yzerman and Krupp.
