YTD: 2-0-0
Two plays tonight, 1 unit on eaach:
Marquette +5 over Duke.....the Maui Championship is a rematch of last year's CBE Championship in which Marquette won outclassing Duke all the way.......Duke was uneven all season last year, but I was impressed with improved fire and athletiscn vs the Illini in last night's semifinal. Coach K certainly will be pushing the revenge mantra tonight. Nevertheless, I still give an edge to Marquette tonight especially with the backcourt from last year, James and McNeal, back there.....these are basically the same teams as last year.....Duke is improved from last season, but Marquette is a little deeper than last year......I figure this game as a pick 'em....Duke may squeek out the win even.....I just think getting 5 points with this backcourt is a gift, so I'll take it.
Scuse -2 over Ohio State......Both teams are trying to blend together a new mix of players from last year....both looked good doing so in the opening rounds of the NIT, but the 'Cuse did it against stiffer competition.....the Buckeyes have been one of the better teams in the country for a few years now, but each year they have to re-estbalish a new identity as a senior laded 05-06 teams gave way to those awesome freshmen last year.....those guys are now in the pros, I think that Matta will get the personnel shuffles going in the right direction come big ten time, but it catches up to them tonight......the Orange are a bit more dynamic than OSU and after missing out on the NCAAs last year, this is a game they need for resume building......they'll get the win tonight.
Thought about these, but passed on them:
The following games I just could not pull the trigger on, but have my eyes onthem none the less in the spirit of learning about the teams.
WMU +4 Davidson.....boy did I want to go to the windows on the Broncos....this is already their sixth game. They're hosting everybody's darling in Davidson, and a win might give the MAC West favorite some at large cred down the line.....they were 11-2 SU, 8-4 ATS in the Zoo last year...They lost to Davidson last year on the road by seven, so they wont be overwhelmed by playing them....still, Davidson has the best player going in tonight's game and Curry seems to be the kind of guy I do not want to bet against.
Texas A/M -5 UW......A/M post Gillespie, post Law.....still think they're good....not a fan of UW, but deep down I wonder if not having Hawes and his NBA agenda wont be addition by subraction....I can be convinced of either side here, so I'll get popcorn ready to see what these teams have for future games.
Butler -6 UM.....late game in Alaska.......Beilien will turn the Wolverines around and they will be more competetive in the Big 10 than most people think....he does more with less and that is what he has this year with UM......Gtown bombed away on these guys last week and Green and Graves can do the same for Butler....of course, the Bulldogs dont bring the Hoyas height and frontline, so Michigan wont be totally outclassed.....just not sure if they can make enough plays down the stretch in a big game....we'll see.
Good luck with all your plays tonight....and be safe out there tonight.....Wednesday before Thanksgiving is a big party tonight, so have fun, be smart and enjoy the games! :toast:
