leave it to kaz sasaki to do it AGAIN to me. he's damn near the only pitcher to screw me during this streak. ironically, he used to be a completely lock-down pitcher when i bet against the mariners at times last year. played these for wednesday:

2 units....san diego (+205) over chicago
2 units....minnesota (-120) over kansas city

adding: 1 unit...ny mets (+105) over houston

been going back and forth on this one. just think leiter is too much of a gamer to drop this one.

smasher:

funny thing is- oswalt is one of my favorite players in the whole game. heres what scares me about him:

his last two starts, he's been susceptible to the big inning. normally, when these "aces" get some run support, its "game over, thanks for coming".

but lately, oswalt hasnt been able to shut the door.

he was spotted a 5-1 lead againts st.louis and blew it (giving up 10 runs and taking the L)

then vs a pathetic milwaukee team, he was spotted a 6-0 lead and let milwaukee get it to 6-5. astros eventually hung on, but oswalt only went 5 innings.

having said that, its rare to get him in almost a "pick-em" situation. so from that standpoint theres value. but leiter is so crafty and tough that oswalt has a big challenge ahead of him.

plus- astros arent scoring worth sh1t right now.

whats your take on this game?

Wow that SD pick shocks me. How can you bet against K Wood? I like SD and all but K Wood at home is tough as nails... I am not sold on A Eaton either but S SOsa may be out (hit in the head the other day) if he is out then i may take SD too...

anyone know Sosa's status?

Eventhough the play "shocked me" lol I ended up parlaying the UNDER and SD, so if it hits, I would get a nice payout nad lord knows after yesterday i am due for 1 good thing sometime soon..:p

talk me out of the mets. im serious. this would be the first time going anti-oswalt in my life, but leiter as a home dog? the guy is such a gamer. i know the mets arent scoring, but neither are the astros for the most part. i just think leiter lasts longer. he's a 120 pitch hurler, whereas oswalt only seems to be going 90 pitches this year. talk me out of leiter

the thing that would scare me away from the mets more than

the astros, is the fact that oswalt pitches good @ the mets.

we all know he's going to rebound to his ace status sometime,

why not do it against a ball club that couldn't hit the ball if it was

on a tee. and if the mets do happen to get the lead, we know

it is never safe with their bullpen, having said that i'm taking the

astros.

thats what im looking for (a good counter-point)
so oswalt has good numbers vs the mets?
im not much for numbers but if theyre worth noting, then i certainly value them in my capping.

i wouldnt be surprised to see leiter throw a complete game, in a losing effort.

after all the troubles benitez has been having, howe may just let his workhorse stay out there.

hell, leiter had an 8 inning 1-0 lead blown by benitez in the 9th last week if i recall correctly.

any clue if berkman is playing?

Great call Gman, once again nailed it. My parlay of SD (+220) and UNDER cashed in nicely. I got SO LUCKY (for once) hitting that UNDER. I think there was a total of 1,345,657,000 runners left on base that game. FOR ONCE i got the luck on my side :)

GL with the rest of the day

I am suprised that Art Howe took Leiter out after 6 IP? Leiter is a work horse and was not struggling much. 2 ER in 6 IP but he yanked him? With how bad Mets bullpen is, I am kind of scratching my head on why Leiter was yanked...

Leiter is 37 years old, had thrown 109 pitches, gave up 2 runs in the 5th and was on the ropes in the 6th. He was done imo.

actually thats worth noting for future outings. it seems art howe handles his pitchers much differently than bobby valentine. people give valentine a bad rap- but i liked his style. he trusted leiter to work through his jams (a la phil jackson with the lakers in a sense). i was surprised leiter didnt pitch at least the 7th.

a win is a win- no complaints, but howe's style is worth noting for future mets games imo. surprised leiter was gone after 6

Gman good pt. So far today I am doing fairly well. O's UNDER 8 pushed, Mets Won (plus leiter got the "W" on my fantasy baseball team lol). Hit my SD ML and UNDER parlay and Yanks up 2-0 and A's tied early, just need those last 2 to WIN and ill have a very nice day.

Much better than yesterday LOL!! :D :D

Great call Gman though! Everyone was on the Astros and u had the balls to take the mets and I followed you... congrats
