I'll update my POD record tomorrow, it's something like 13-14-2.

Regular plays were 4-0 on Tuesday: Miami, UConn, UNLV and Siena.

Wednesday's Play of the Day is:

Vanderbilt -2.5

Vanderbilt is 11-2 SU and 6-3 ATS at home while LSU is 1-6 SU and 1-5 ATS on the road.

In their L5, the Commodores shot well: 45% from the field including 38% from the arc. In their L5, LSU only hit 57% of their FTs, which is a real bad sign.

Vanderbilt is coming off a 67-65 loss at home to Tennessee where Vandy shot only 35%. In Vandy's previous home game vs Georgia, the Commodores shot 56% from the field.

LSU's L3 on the road:

1/26: lost at Miss State 84-61
1/23: lost at Ole Miss 70-55
1/16: lost at Florida 102-70

LSU not playing good defense on the road: opponents are averaging 54% from the field including 41% of their 3s.

Nice writeup superbook. . .

Found out that Thorton and Plavich are questionable. . . any idea whether these two are playing? Think Vandy is the right side as well, but noticed the line started at Vandy laying 5 and down to Vandy laying 3 or less. . . is the early money on LSU because of these questionable players for Vandy?

Nickelback -- I read this morning on a couple of boards that Thornton and Plavich were questionable, but I haven't confirmed this nor did anyone say exactly what's wrong with them. I'll try to find out the facts.

What's less well known is that LSU's center Bridgewater (6.8ppg, 3.5 rpg) twisted his knee in a shoot-around last Friday. He started Saturday vs Alabama but was ineffective with zero rebounds.

I'll update the injury report on this game as I get updates.

Adding as regular plays:

UCLA -2 (bought a half point at -120)

The home team has won 6 of L7 ATS

St. Peter's +10

Too many points for an improving, more confident St. Peter's team which is playing with nothing to lose. St. Peter's has covered their L4 games on the road.

Toledo -3

I hate to go against Hellah here but I've got to take Toledo at home to avenge their 75-61 loss at CMU a couple of weeks ago. Also, this is a small number to cover against CMU which is a poor road team (1-6-1 ATS).

Ohio State -2.5

OSU 8-2 ATS L10 while Wisconsin has lost L4 ATS. Buckeyes seem to be coming on while Wisconsin is fading.

IE -- good article. It's about how LSU is shuffling their line up tonight to send a signal to some of their guys, including Bridgewater, who aren't producing. Tonight's line up for LSU will be smaller and quicker, good news for Vandy backers as Vandy wins bigger in a fast paced game, especially since LSU can shoot FTs and the Commodores are 76% from the line at home.

Vandy Injury Update

I just spoke to Brent Ross, Vanderbilt's head of Media Relations, and he told me that Thornton and Pavlich are 100%. He said that he had no idea why they were listed as questionable and said that "they're good to go."

Of course I've been lied to before.

Tonight's Vanderbilt-LSU men's basketball game doesn't appear to be that big of a deal.

It's just a midweek game between a couple of teams floundering near the bottom of their respective divisions in the Southeastern Conference.

But Matt Freije has never looked more forward to a game. To hear him talk you'd think the conference title was on the line.

''I really want to get back out there on the floor,'' the Vanderbilt sophomore said. ''I was looking forward to Monday's practice after what happened last Saturday.''

What happened last Saturday against Tennessee was downright embarrassing for Freije. It served as a reminder to him for what it means to be the team's best and most counted-upon player.

When he makes mistakes he pays a higher price than his teammates.

When Freije failed to pass the ball on a 3-on-1 fast break very early in the second half and missed the layup, Coach Kevin Stallings sat him on the bench ? for the rest of the game.

Digger -- I saw that article too, I liked the added motivation.

Also FWIW Thornton and Plavich started and are playing. I think the "rumor" that they were questionable was started by a Vegas bookmaker to get some action on LSU.

Super..I'm furious...the Buckeyes lose, i watched the whole game...there were 77 frickin' free throws shot in the game..there was no flow..it was the only type of whistle that could've cost the Bucks this game ...they(OSU) had two players foul out...i'm getting killed tonight..:( sometimes in this game, (of basketball) the officiating is so incredibly poor...and half the basterds never even played the game!..i'm pissed and i'm venting!..:)

Crib --

Well at least we got the win with Vandy. If you didn't watch or listen to that game the Commodores were down most of the game and came back at the end. The difference was free throws: Vanderbilt hit 9-12 while LSU was 4-11. Those five points were the difference: 68-63.

Digger --

Freije might have been looking forward to the game but he shot like chit: 3-12 from the field. He almost cost Vandy another one.

Boilermaker --

You were right to be concerned about the Ohio State play.
