Cubs (Prior, 6-3, 3.15) -114 @ Astros (Hernandez, 5-4, 5.00)
Really like the Cubbies here..Prior got shelled for 7 runs in his first ever start against the Astros on June 1st. His next two starts against them told a different story.
Priors' (RHP, 6'5", 225lbs) last two starts against the Astros:
July 19th(@ Chi): 8IP, 2H, 8K, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, W5-0
Aug 15th(@ Chi): 6IP, 5H, 12K, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB -- ND
(W6-4, Fassero)
Prior has at least 6IP in each of his last five starts, allowing more than two earned runs only once in that span.. (5ER July 30th vs SD, L6-5). He is 3-0 so far in August.
Hernandez (LHP, 5'10", 185lbs) has been progressively worse with each start..His confidence has to be dwindling, if he hasn't hit rock bottom already. I have a sneaking suspicion his shoulder is still bothering him, too.
Hernandez' last start against Cubs:
June 11th(@ Hou): 4.2IP, 7H, 5R, 5ER, 5BB -- ND (L9-5, Borbon)
Hernandez has lasted no more than 2 innings in each of his last 3 starts, giving up 9H, 12ER, and 7BB during that span while striking out only 4.
Cubs will be looking to win 3 straight for the first time since a four-game win streak to start the second half of the season. It's GOING to happen. :thumb:
