Hockey, an unknown land for me. I think that I am lost. :yup

Hurricanes at Oilers

--Carolina began this three-game road trip with Saturday?s 5-2 loss at Ottawa. It was the Hurricanes? third straight setback and lowered their road record to 5-6-0-1.

--The Hurricanes are getting outscored on enemy ice by an average of 2.8 to 2.3, with the ?under? going 7-5.

--Edmonton, 8-1-1 in its last 10 games, is off back-to-back shutout victories.

--The Oilers have allowed one goal or less in eight of their last 10 contests, with the ?under? going 8-1-1 during that span.

--Edmonton is outscoring the opposition at Skyreach Center by an average of 2.3 to 1.9 en route to a 5-3-3-1 ledger. The ?under? is 8-3-1 during the club?s first 12 home games.

Thrashers at Coyotes

--Atlanta has surrendered three goals or more in each of its last 11 games. The ?over? is 7-3-1 during that span.

--The Thrashers, allowing an average of 4.3 goals per game in their first 13 road games, are a dismal 2-8-1-2 on enemy ice.

--Phoenix has begun its season-high nine-game homestand with a four-game (0-3-1) winless streak. The last three contests all jumped ?over? the closing total.

--The slump has lowered the club?s home ledger to a gloomy 2-7-4-1.

--The Coyotes are getting outscored at America West Arena by an average of more than one goal per game (3.5 to 2.4), with the ?over? going 9-2-3.

--Phoenix is 4-0 in the last four meeting with Atlanta, including a 5-1 victory as a $ 1.45 road favorite on Nov. 15 in the lone matchup this season.

Avalanche at Canucks

--Colorado, which plays three road games in the next four nights, is 6-2-3-2 on enemy ice.

--These Western Conference foes have split a pair of meetings this season, with each winning on the road. Vancouver recorded a 4-2 victory as a hefty $1.80 road underdog on Nov. 4, and Colorado registered a 5-1 win as a $1.30 road favorite on Oct. 31. Both games jumped ?over? the closing total.

--The Canucks have begun this three-game homestand with losses to Minnesota (4-2) and Calgary (2-1). The setbacks have lowered Vancouver?s home ledger to 6-6-2-0.

Capitals at Mighty Ducks

--The ?over? is 8-1 in Washington?s last nine efforts, with the club allowing three goals or more seven times during that period.

--The Capitals are 5-9-2-0 on enemy ice, with the ?under? going 11-5.

--Anaheim began its four-game homestand with a 3-0 victory against Nashville. The win raised the squad?s home ledger to 5-4-4-0, with the ?under? improving to 7-4-2.

--The ?under? is 5?1-1 in Anaheim?s last seven efforts.

The Caps total surprises me to be honest. Either Charpatier or the woeful Billington will be in net. The Caps have scored 4 or more goals in something like 5 of their last 7 games if memory serves, and are giving up at least that many quite often. I know the Ducks are quite good defensively and don't score a whole lot, but the Caps D can make just about anybody look good these days. I may be wrong, but +5 looks solid to me.
