MARINERS-With so many reasons to play the M's tonight it is hard to know where to start. First the pitching match-up:Lifetime records vs. opp.(Moyer 9-3:Valdes 1-6);Last 3 starts(Moyer 2-1 w/2.31 ERA:Valdes 1-0 w/4.36 ERA). Now for the team match-ups where the M's really look attractive. In the last ten games played between these teams the M's hold an 8-2 edge. M's record on the road is very impressive(31-16) and they are 12-2 vs. their division away(20-7 overall). The Rangers are just 4-9 at home vs. their division and 9-18 overall. TEXAS VS LH PITCHING THIS YEAR(3-14). Like the Mariners in this one.
UNDER 7(Marlins-Braves)- Two very good pitchers in this match-up with all signs indicating a very low scoring affair. This season Burnett vs. the Braves has yet to give up an earned run in 15 innings. Maddux not doing too bad vs. the Marlins( 0.82 ERA in 11 innings) and his ERA is 1.47 his last 19 innings overall. Marlins on a bad streak(losers of their last 6) and the Braves have cooled a bit scoring only 10 runs in their last 4 games. 7 runs is a low total but this one should stay well below that.
CARDINALS-I'll jump on the boat like everyone else here who likes the Cardinals and hope we don't sink. Can not see how because Simontacci has been great this year. The Giants Hernandez has been hit hard in his last 3 outings(1-2 w/7.63 ERA). Cardinals playing good ball so I'll take them tonight at a very good price.
A's-Pitching match-up says play the A's heavy tonight. The Angels Appier has been rocked recently(6.62 ERA last 18 innings) and even though he is 1-0 this year vs. Oakland his ERA is 6.52 against them. The A's Hudson has been almost unhittable as of late(0.39 ERA last 23 innings) and he owns a 9-1 lifetime record vs. the Angels. Oakland has won 8 of the last 10 meetings between these teams and they should get the "W" tonight.(Note:As an Auburn graduate I have to bet on Hudson)
