TCU -22.5 over Smoo ******
TCU played Southern and beat them 55- to something...all starters sat out the 2nd half...Smoo got blown away by North Texas 46-23...and Smoo scored all of its 23 points in the 4th quarter...NT qb Fine was 40-50 for over 460 yds and a few Td's...Smoo defense was so bad..no pass rush and secondary was just as bad as last yr..NT had 9 different wr's get over 10 yds...Sonny Dykes " air raid" was grounded...but Sonny was an offensive coach at TCU so he knows there attack..but that doesn't mean anything because his defense can't pass rush,can't tackle or stop anyone.. NT had 34 1st downs...and Smoo has about 80% of their defense back this year...they did get 2 sacks on Fine after 50 attempts. Smoo qb Hicks looked terrible...they had no running game and their wr's are both in the NFL...
TCU is loaded...Patterson just reloads...he gets 3-4-5 star recruits to attend...they were 11-3 last yr..lost their top qb in the middle of the season..but in comes 6'2 Robinson a dual threat .. He had 5 td's in the 1st half last week..they have solid rb's and solid wr's..they have that spread attack and then power running in the inside...the only positive thing Smoo did last week vs North Texas was stopped the run..but NT didn't run it because Fine had all the time in the pocket...TCU can run it...they have their two tackles that are 6'7 and 6'8 weighing in at 315 and 330..but TCU strength is there defense...not offense...they play that Patterson 4-2-5 defense...could have the best defense in the B-12..there linebackers are strong against the run and there def-line puts pressure on the qp..there secondary are athletic and quick..
Frogs have owned the Stangs...last yr they won 56-36 and Smoo had a much better team...they year before 33-3 and the following yrs 56-37,56-0 and 48-17..
Smoo defense is in big trouble...Smoo offense vs TCU is even in bigger trouble...TCU has the speed and are stronger..with the spread offense its a bad matchup for Stangs defense..because there inside power running game will have some huge holes...with Robinson at Qb being a dual threat will create even bigger problems...these teams don't like each..they share the metro plex of Dallas and Fort Worth...think TCU wins this 55-14 and Smoo scores late in the 4th qrt...the only worry is TCU is at Ohio St next week...so Patterson will sub early and worry about a backdoor.. back in a few days with a few other games...
