Almost to the regular season... I'm ready. But for Almost to the regular season... I'm ready. But for now :

Preseason NFL

1. Cleveland /T. Bay Under 42' (3 units) *LOSS👎... Yep, gotta love the hook
2. New Orleans /Pittsburgh Under 44' (3 units)
*WIN👍

*I realize that we will see more of the starters tonight, however, I kinda think the Defenses will play more in all the games, and I look for the Offense to have some rust, with no team showing too much. These totals look more like regular season numbers.

DEGEN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL:

*Really looking forward to this weekend with ESPN televising a plethora of high school gridiron. Should be fun to watch some of these programs meet; especially the teams traveling out of state for bragging rights, recruitment, and National Rankings. I'm a huge high school football fan and have had each game under a microscope.

All games 1 unit

1. Hillsboro +28 over Oakland TN... *Kinda scratching my head at this number. Burros are 2 years removed from playing in the Class 5A State Title Game. Hillsboro bring back 10 starters (5 on each side of the ball). Senior B. Hutch is a 6-3",310 lb beast, playing on both sides of the ball. Oakland opened with a W pitching a shut-out 45-0 to a very good team last week. Oakland runs the Wing-T, which caused me headaches when I coached high school football. However, the O-line is a weak spot that can be exploited as all of last year's team graduated. I really like the Burros to stay inside the big number. Gluck
*PUSH✊

2. Pomona /Mullen Under 50..... Clash between Colorado 5A powerhouses should be a good one. Mullen won last year 38-31 in OT. Pomona hasn't forgot and has had this one circled. Pomona is missing their stud OL Morretti a 6-5 280 lb, bound for Ohio St. And accolades have him as one of the best in the country. Feel bad for the guy as he blew a knee in summer football camp at Ohio St. Both these teams have strong defense. This one will be played in the trenches, as neither QB is a great Passer. I like the Under here..
*WIN👍By the hair of my Chinny-Chin-Chin

3. Pinnacle +6 over Basha AZ. Both teams took it on the chin last week, which brings a sense of urgency to both. Pinnacle has several Division 1 ball players and I honestly believe the wrong team is favored here.*WIN👍FINAL 49-41...too bad no money line available

Adding:

4. Mater Dei - 37. This line opened at - 35. Mater Dei is the real deal. This team is loaded. I'm not sure Bishop Amat will score, they certainly won't be able to keep pace with this vaunted attack. I look forward Mater Dei to challenge St. John Bosco for State. Bishop Amat is a shell of what they once were. Possibly a running clock in 2nd half if this one gets out of control.*WIN👍... YEP, It got ugly as Dei had the lead 49-7 at the half, which dictated a running clock in 2nd half... Final was 63-14.

1. NY Giants /Jets Under 42'...3 units
WIN

2. Baltimore - 2' over Detroit... 4 units
WIN

3. Indianapolis - 2' over Philadelphia... 3 units..
LOSS

Add: DEGEN HSF Foots (all 1 unit)

1. Pine-Richland +23 over ST Edwards
*I had to take a double take when I saw this line and I pounced. No disrespect to St. EDS as they are an Ohio power that has won 2 consecutive State Championships in Division 1. Pine-Richland is no slouch and is currently the #2 ranked WPIAL 6A team in Pennsylvania. Edward's was hit hard by graduation. *Only 1 starter back on offense, and 2 on defense. They are currently rebuilding and will be inexperienced, however, the young squad does have some athletes. Actually, both teams come into the match-up young. PR features the #1 ranked Sophomore QB in the country, who will be ultimately headed to Note Dame. PR does have some receivers and rb that can produce points. PR is about a year away from being scary good. Still, the points given to PR is way too much and this one should be a back and forth affair. Take the points.... Wouldn't surprise me if they actually win. Strong lean to the Over 56.
*WINNER.... great game. Pine-Richland lose by a point 👍

2. Saguaro /Valor Christian Over 55....2 very good programs battle tomorrow. Valor Christian is home and has won 5 straight State Championships. Eagles are the crown jewel of Colorado football. It is a private school with enrollment under 1000. School looks like a mini-college. Valor is lead by signal caller, Dylan McCaffrey, son of NFL great, Ed McCaffrey. His brother is the star at RB at Stanford. Valor faces off with Arizona St pipeline Saguaro. Big things expected from Saguaro. Favored to win State again as it has won the last 3 State Championship. Something has to give here. The QB is a better runner than Passer. Both Tight Ends are full ride athletes to DIV 1. Both schools had a ton of transfers this off-season. Respected Saguaro Coach says it's the deepest team he has ever had. They have a cool mascot the SaberCats... 😎 Love the over here.
*WINNER 👍 AGAIN, Love that Over 😜

3. St. XAVIER +21 Over St. John Bosco.... What might arguably be the best California team travels to Ohio to play perennial powerhouse, Xavier. I won't lie, I went back and forth with this one and perhaps I should just leave it alone, however, it's only a unit, and I can be persuasive when I'm arguing with myself 😈 I watched some tape of Bosco and thought I was looking at a Juco team. These guys huge. Braves O-line is anchored by Wyatt Davis a 6'4" 310 lb. OHIO St. Commit. He is ranked the #1 Guard in the country. The whole O-line averages over 300 lb. The Bombers will be giving up 80 lb per player in the trenches. The offense and defense is loaded with 4 and 5 star recruits. QB is Re-al Mitchell, a dual threat with blazing speed as he is a top track athlete. In the scrimmage last week he broke several long runs so Bombers can expect a lot of option and draw. I don't expect Bombers to back down from this challenge. They will pop you in the mouth, and I expect a lot of froggin in the trenches to negate some of that pounds. Xavier is lead by the #6 QB prospect in Ohio. He is a Penn St commit. There is depth at receivers and backs on the offense. Here's the catch. Bosco put out a video on YouTube that basically came off as cocky and disrespectful. I'm sure Xavier coach will utilize the video to get some momentum and use the message conveyed as a tool to get his team up. I think the Bombers can hang within this big number and while I think Bosco wins, let's hope by 10 to 14. LOSS

4. GRAYSON +17 IMG...... Another fantastic match-up. Will gladly take the points in this battle between #2 ranked and #4 ranked team. Not a lot to say about IMG ACADEMY. Team plays as an independent out of Florida and are ineligible to play in Florida post season. That does affect recruitment as players flock to IMG in the off season as transfers to play in a program that has every top college under the sun that visits the campus which is a state of the art training, weights, stadium, dorms, etc. The team is loaded with freaks whose goal is to win a "mythological" National Title at the end of the year. IMG QB, Kelley Mond is Texas A&M bound. IMG will line up 8 out of 11 defenders considered to be "blue chip" athletes. Grayson Rams aren't going to be run over. The program was Georgia State semi-finalists last year. Grayson QB, Chase Bryce is ranked #14 in the country for pro style passers. He will be on a full ride to Clemson. The Rams run elements of the Wing-T on offense which could throw off a very aggressive D from IMG if they don't stay at home on the misdirection. Bryce is more than capable throwing the Waggle pass out of the Wing-T. He will have to be on to be successful. There will be a total of 17 players between both teams that are in the ESPN Top 300. Grayson has returning starters on both sides of the ball. Their secondary is lead by CB duo who are considered top 10 overall prospects. Finally, IMG played an exhibition game last week against another Florida school, and while it didn't count, they only won by a score of 17-7. I think Grayson will give IMG all that it can handle and this one could go down to the wire. Give me the points! LOSS

5. Colquitt County +23' over American Heritage.... (will explain in a minute)....Georgia meets Florida for Saturday night lights! A little like a miniature SEC Tilt. When I first saw the line I was thinking COUNTY with the big number... I mean c'mon this team finished #2 in the USA TODAY Super 25 National Ranking last year. They ran a perfect season ly and we're the defending 6A Georgia State Champions. All was great until the run of 30 straight wins came to an abrupt halt, losing to in-state rival by 8 last week. That took the wind out of their sails, NO doubt. This year Colquitt lost 20 starters that need to be replaced; in addition, there was a seemingly mass exodus of coaches and assistants who moved on to greener pastures, some to college, some to other high schools taking head coaching positions, capitalizing on last year's success. Still, the Head Coach, Rush Probst, retained his position... you may remember him from the MTV series "2 a Days" (about 9 years ago) where he was the Head Coach for Hoover, Alabama...winning the State Championship several times during his tenure. One thing about it, Probst knows how to coach, but he will have his work cut out plugging so many holes with young, inexperienced ballers. 10 players from ly went on to play DIV 1 this year, with another 15 on to smaller and Juco school. However, Probst thinks this year's team, while be way more explosive than lys team. The Defensive line will be the strength with natural explosive speed. I expect we will see a lot of stemming and stacking to the strong side of the field. Heritage counters with one of the best O-Line in the nation. They will open holes for mobile QB Jason Brown, who had 18 TD's on the ground ly. On the O-Line, starter has offers from 18 schools. Currently, Heritage is ranked #11 in the country. They return 7 defensive starters. The big question mark is at this early juncture is how will the team respond to new Head Coach P. Surtain, who played 11 years in the NFL. The departed HC M. Rumph, left behind a legacy posting a 36-9 record; having won back to back State piles in 2013 and 2014. The big Q is how long will it take to adjust to a new coach with different expectations and views. I'm taking the 23' points in this one and expect Colquitt to have too much tradition with the student body ordering a black out at tonight's game, and believe pride at the home stadium will keep County in the game. WIN

Uno Mas:

Cedar Hill +17 over Bishop Gorman.... Gl

*I got 17 on Thursday when I made all my plays. I was informed it's down to 12? Yikes, very little value now, but hey, it's only a unit

OK, my last write up. Gorman has 7 consecutive State Championships. Gorman is currently #3 ranked but has finished the last 2 seasons as #1 in Super 25. Let's not forget a 39 point winning streak. Talent-wise Gaels have 8 junior and seniors ranked among Scout's. Com top 150 players. Led by QB Tate Martell, he is a 5 star 🌟 recruit with 3 & 4 star receivers. Defense is talented and deep. So why am I backing Cedar Hill here? They have their share of top line recruits, too. WR are very talented; with Charles Rambo and C. Beckley leading air assault. Hill has won state in 2006, 2013 and 2014. Very impressive considering the competition is heavy in Texas. Tonights game is expecting 10,000 and student body is trying to Black out. Texas pride on the line tonight. Just ask lys #1 DELASALLE how their trip into Texas went. It will come down to QB play. Martell and Davis are both dual threat QBS. Martell last year threw for 2, 537 yards w/40 TDs and ran for 604 yards with 9 TDs. Avery Davis threw for 2,148 yards & the 25 TDs. He ran for 873 yards & 13 TDs. Martell is signed with OSU. Avery with Norte Dame. Should be a doozy.... Gl with whatever you play. LOSS... *Gorman is the real deal

Posting +17 when it is not available doesn't help anyone. Of course it does help your record if the line moves in your favor.

12? And yet you bet it at 13'....im not denying it was at 12, however, a 5 point swing is pretty major, considering Gorman covered all spreads easily.

My point is just that posting lines that are no longer available doesn't help anyone and can skew record keeping. In this specific situation, you bet +17 on Thursday but didn't post it. The line moved down to +12 on Saturday and then you posted +17. That type of posting is very favorable to you. If the line moves up to say +21 you can post that but if the line moves down like it did you can post the stale line. It is more accurate to post picks/lines when you got them, not days later.

Sorry for the long post. I'll let it go and stay out of your threads.

The fact that you made issue with a line move in a high school sport is laughable. I believe I was quite clear when I started this thread that I was bored and decided to handicap the weeks high school football. I have no interest in demonstrating expertise to side a book where 40 cent lines would send most to the poor house. And I'm quite clear by the title that "DEGEN" is what I basically perceive anyone looking to exploit a book with lines that are off. I was tongue and cheek responding to your heads up, that the line was down to 12 as I had no intention of middling a play in a post-pubescent sport that many might consider highly immoral.

The last thing I want to do is advocate gambling on the pure sport of high school football. I have a fondness for high school sports and was tickled that ESPN opened with such intriguing match-up. I did my write ups in hopes that others might respond to converse about the weekends games. I entered your thread hoping to talk a little about the pics as I especially love California high school football. I was respectful and gave a little lead in, however, you responded by attempting to belittle my pick in my thread. Let's be real here; the limit for a high school play is $100. Even if 5 dimes got hit with a wave of action on Cedar, I can guarantee their asses were covered, and the book made a little coin, as Bishop handily covered the spread.

I have no interest in discussing the game with someone that throws darts hoping one sticks. Ie: giving up 20 points to a Catholic school with only 3 starters returning. It's already a slippery slope... Feels a bit exploitive even considering wagering on the sport, let alone worry about my "posting record". Please. I have neither the time or inclination to defend my ethics and honesty. At least I call a spade a spade.

Good Day!
