Rut (+6.5) over Pitt
A top 25 team getting close to a TD? Is Pitt that good? I have watched them play and they have looked good but they really haven't beaten a tough team. They got rolled by MSU, but that was back when MSU had a pulse. Pitt's defense has a lot of team speed and they looked sharp against CF, but that is central florida. The Knights beat a QB-less Navy team and beat them bad. This should be a good game, but the running game for Rutgers is not bad and the defense is also good. The QB is not very good but Teel did show signs of life last week tossing 2 TD passes last week. Remember this Pitt team only beat Cuse by 10 at Cuse. I am not saying Pitt is gonna get stomped but I think Rutgers has a very good rushing attack that will be up for this game. Both teams have a decent running game, Pitt has the better QB and I think Rutgers has the edge in the coaches department. This will be a hard fought game and I think spotting 6.5 to a ranked team even on the raod is a nice choice. I could see the knights winning this game but I believe this will be close. Not sure the WR's make the big play against the Rutgers defense. The special teams unit should be uo to holding Pitt. A big challege for both teams to get some notice in the division and it should be a dog fight.

Cheers

Love the play Irish. Wanny never shows up in big games and Palko has not seen a decent defense all year. Rutgers wins outright:)

La-Laff (-8.5) over Fla Atl
Both teams are hot of late but the ragin cajuns have played the tougher competition in those winning games. La-Laff should be able to run the ball ALL evening. FAU has been awful against the run so far allowing 184 yards per game. ULL is averaging more than 200 yards a game rushing, and senior quarterback Jerry Babb is playing like the player tabbed the preseason offensive player of the year. Tyrell Fenroy the sophomore is the second leading rusher in the Sun Belt and is coming off three consecutive 100-yard games. If ULL ran run for 269 yards on Houston and 154 on Texas A&M, I would think they use that running game to set up the pass. Fla Atl will look to sophmore Clayton, he is a good QB that played very well last week, but tonight will be a bit tougher. He threw 3 TD's recently, but other than that 1 big game he has tossed only 1 TD and 3 Int's. The Owls are averaging just 12.2 points a game but have scored 53 the past two weeks. Charles Pierre had his first 100-yard rushing game of the season last week against Southern Utah. The receivers are young and fast, but the offensive line needs to continue to improve. I am not sold on the Owls offense even after the last two games. Beating Houston and E. Mich compared to Southern Utah. Yes Fla Atl will have the home field advantage but Babb and the running game should take the crowd out of the game on offense. The best way for Fla Atl to stay in this game is to keep the Cajun offense off the field and I am not sure they can do that all night. Too much chalk for my comfort in a Sun Belt game but IMO La-Laff is the better team and should come to play tonight.

Irish-- Excellent job explaining your plays as usual. you are an obvious asset to this forum. Aren't the FAU stats (giving up 184 ypg on the ground) misleading considering the level of road competition they have faced this season?

Those numbers are a bit blown up but they still struggle against the rush even with bad teams....

La-Monroe 122
Souther Utah 118

Not as bad as the numbers give up aginst the bigger name teams but still they were by no means holding teams when they wanted to run.

Good luck to you this weekend, and thanks for the kind words.

I have some KIND WORDS FOR YA

I have some KIND WORDS FOR YA

VA TECH being favored by more than TWO touchdowns against ANYBODY at this point is a joke. I can figure out way the Cappers are still giving them any respect...I think So.Miss keeps it well within the line and would expect the betting public will catch on to that one prior to Saturday. I am going to pound it now just incase that line drops below the double. Anybody else out there think Miami should be banned from bowl particapation for min of 2 years?? Those guys belong playing nowhere else but Levenworth.

OOooo...oh whats this seems the Owls are moving the ball

JESUS.... 1:20 left in the game and you are thinking of punting from the 30??? Kick a FG, your kicker has made 2 44 yarders??? A punt into the end gets you 12 extra yards?????????????? GO FOR IT WHY????????????
$% yard FG, you miss it and they still have the ball here, your kicker can boot in the 50's SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME... it looks like both teams were paid off and are trying to lose.

UVA (-6) over UNC
UNC has only won a single game this season and is even worse (0-5) against the spread. Since 1992, UVA is an impressive 10-4 ATS when playing UNC. Expect the Cavaliers to run all over the Tar Heels? rush defense which gives up over 200 yards a game. With the Tar Heels only getting 6 points on the road, it is no wonder that over 90% of the betting public is all over the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers have run for 106, 153 and 181 the last three outings. Considering North Carolina's difficulty stopping the run, the Cavaliers look to have some success in that department this week. The Cavs passed for a season-high 243 yards in their loss to Maryland. Virginia has had trouble stopping the run, having surrendered 208 yards rushing to East Carolina and 174 to Maryland the last two weeks. The Cavaliers should have more success against North Carolina, which is struggling with its running game. They also lead the league in sacks (23), one more than Clemson in a similar number of games, but they are only sixth in interceptions despite having the league leader in CB Marcus Hamilton with four. The Tar Heels are producing just under 300 yards a game total offense, ranking in the lower half of the conference in both rushing (120) and passing (180) yards per game. They don't have a rusher in the top 10 in the league, and QB Cam Sexton ranks ninth in passing yards a game. Interestingly, Virginia is giving up 299 yards a game, including 125 on the ground. The Tar Heels have dropped to last place again in 2006, yielding 392 yards a game to opponents. Despite losing the game, even Division 1-AA Furman moved the ball against the Heels, piling up 42 points and 521 yards total offense. Kevin Ogletree will need to have a big game onsidering he is Sewells guy. Carolinas pass defense is not the greatest so I think they can hook up a few times tonight. Remember Sewell is just a freshman and has been learining as he goes, he got better over the past few weeks. Sewell is also someone that can make it happen on the ground. The decent D-line for UVA, the improved QB play, homefield advantage and a better coach give my play to the Wahoos.

Still cannot believe last nights game.

Considering UVA right now. Have been very down on this team all year, but this is a spot they should find success. Best of luck.

WVU (-23.5) over UConn
Behind Heisman Trophy candidate, Steve Slaton, WVU averages an impressive 328 yards on the ground. Meanwhile the Huskies D isn?t famous for being able to stop the run; giving up more than 177 yards per game. Uconn has a strong running attack of their own, unfortunately WVU?s defense gives up less than 90 yards a game on the ground. The Mountaineers should win this one running away. With its biggest game of the season looming, West Virginia has one more week to fine-tune its explosive offense - and work the kinks out of its defense. BIG LOOK AHEAD GAME. Coach Rod will need to have his boys ready for the huskies. rushing offense that's averaging 328.3 yards, best in the nation. West Virginia is tied for 20th in the nation with 13 points allowed per game. The defense will face its toughest challenge so far against Connecticut, which is averaging 357.3 yards per game - more than any of West Virginia's opponents so far this season. Connecticut won for the first time in three games Saturday, beating Army 21-7, behind a GREAT efort from RB Caulley. West Virginia and Connecticut are meeting for just the third time. The Mountaineers won the first two matchups by a combined 76-32. That?ll be on display Friday night against a Connecticut team that simply doesn?t have the speed or the offensive playmakers to keep up with the Mounties. The Mountaineers are still committing too many penalties, while allowing big plays through the air, which could catch up to them this week. WVU can only beat themselves tonght. Coach Rod knows there are far too many things for WVU to improve on to just walk asleep into this game. If anything he should have his players trying to execute the way they will have to next weekend. The defense is TERRIBLE IMO and they looked confused against the Cuse passing game. Considering they did play so poorly I would think the coaching staff got on them at practice all week. WVU is good enough against the run to bottle up Caully and if they can do it then UConn is in trouble. The running game, White at QB, the Oline, better coach and the NEED to improve on defense before L'Ville are my thoughts.

Cheers

Good stuff as usual Irish! May be opposite you tomorrow on the Rutgers game. Scary for me especially since the "Wanny" card hasn't really been play yet this year :mj07: Nice calls on the Virginia game last night. Go Neers!! :mj06:
