HSF:

Thurs

JSerra 53'
Servite pk

Just got off the phone with my buddy who is a huge Trinity League guy and seems to have a finger on his pulse of the various teams that compromise the league. Tonight's game decides who wins 3rd Place of the Trinity League. Both programs are fairly young with rosters stock full of Soph, who are all getting lots of PT.... Servite was handled last week by the Country's #1 team Mater Dei 56-11 and JSerra was slapped around by Bosco (#3 ranked team in the US)..... No surprise in either match but 2 weeks ago, Servite gave Bosco all they could handle in a close 27-26 match that was decided by a conversion miss.

JSerra has impressed me this year traveling to a couple of power games in Utah and Georgia. St Josephs Regional beat them 24-13........Servite has their old HC back out of retirement and kids respect his tutelage and play hard for him. The biggest difference between the two is JSerra wants to keep the ball on the ground and doesn't want to get in a air raid with anyone. Their scores tend to be low scorers and the D is top notch with several D1 recruits. Servite has the better passing team but it didn't show up last week against Mater Dei (Monarchs carried a 42-0 score in at the half).

Servite has the better QB but has young receivers. They average 275 pass yards pg while the Lions only avr 128. Lions run the ball to the tune of 165 rush ypg while Friars manage 67.

Heres the thing, Friars might have the better overall talent but JSerra has played better overall comp. I wouldn't read too much in the shellacking they received from Bosco... Imo Bosco has a tendency to not bring their A game each week but are more than capable of possibly upending the MD Cart.

JSerra will rely heavily on their D in this one and will continue to pound all the while letting the clock roll.... If Lions get behind Servite, I don't have much confidence in their passing game to get them back into things. There is really only one way to bet this one......

JSerra/Servite Under 53'......2 units.. Gl
