WVU (-7) over Maryland

Ralph Friedgen has owned Rich Rodriguez in four face-to-face meetings (Harris was not a factor in the Citrus bowl where he sat out almost the entire game) BUT West Virginia's offensive front -- Brown, Mozes, Berk,Watson -- are as good as Maryland will face this season including ACC teams.

Not only does WVU have a solid RB in Harris but they also have a good back up in Colson! Eliminate those two from the game and you still have to deal with a fleet footed QB. Now Marshall had become a more complete QB working on his accuracy and developing as a passer.

UM defense is soft against the run allowing Temples lead back to rush for 184 yards on 28 carries. This is a new game for WVU at home with revenge on their minds.

ND (-3.5) over MSU

The Irish realized they will have to run the ball more to take pressure off Quinn. The defense of ND was all over the Mich team last week. Mich St is no where near the team they were a year ago. The have a difficult time stopping the run as Rutgers was able to take advantage of them all day. Look for ND to have success rushing and the Irish defense to be all over a (IMO) poor decision making QB.

UVA (-31) over Akron

A TON OF CHALK, but Akron did get handled by Penn St by 38. This UVA team has twice the defense PSU has so Akron will be under more pressure and forced into turn overs. Offensively the Cavs are clicking. They have a running game with Lundy and O-line that should be all over the Zips. At home UVA is very tough.

Clemson (-1.5) vs Texas A&M

Yes the Aggies laid a beating down on Wyoming??? This team got crushed by Utah. Bowden is too good of a coach not to get these kids up for this game. The passing attack of Clemson should work on this youthful secondary. Aggies playing at home play better but IMO they will get beaten. Clemson has played two decent teams in GT & Wake, both hard fought conference games. A&M will be over confident after the win big last week.

Tenn (-3) over Florida

I really like Tenn at Rocky Top. Tenn having 2 freshman QB's working the offense put a lot of pressure on the offensive line. Against UNLV the line did their job and the Vols rushed for 225 and threw for 241. The vols defense are not great against the run. But the Gators offense has not been impressive. IMO Tenn will work on the defense all week, given them the strong O-line & rushing game, plus the 12 man, the Vols are my play.

Cincy (-1) over Cuse

Small play but IMO Cuse is just not good. They beat Buffalo because their defense made plays and scored. I don't see those types of special team, defensive big plays coming at the expense of Cincy. The rushing game of Cincy should have success against Cuse. Buffalo was able to run up the bell for big gains. As long as Cincy doesn't make big mistakes like in the OSU game they should beat this team.

Will post more/ with write-ups later

Good luck Irish, Cincy and ND are two of my strong leans right now. Your analysis of Cuse is dead on and I think the loss to Rutgers looks terrible on Mich St's resume right now.

Great write ups buddy!

I'm with you on ND. Even if Mich. stunk it up and ND got lucky, we are still talking Mich, not Mich. St.

I don't know about WV. I certainly don't like giving 7 to Mary.

Oh I agree that Irish emotionally and physically put everything they had into Mich. But I think the win gives this team confidence and a little confidence can beat this Mich St team. The defense should account for a score against the spartans. This is the game that shows if ND has what it takes or not. If they are over confident because they beat michigan OR if they come out hungry because they beat michigan. I think Ty can get the boys hungry.

Minn (-3.5) over Colorado St.

They out coached us, they outplayed us and they outfought us," said Mason about the Gophers win over Ill St. This is just the type of game to get Minn focused again going into Col St. The Gophers rushed for 303 yards in that game. Something the rams just cannot stop. BOTH Colorado and USC attacked this team on the ground and the gophers will do the same. The gophers QB has shown accuracy and will be able to move the ball on this Rams defense.

The Minn defense was more disappointing last week. The secondary accounted for five of the Gophers' 12 penalties - four pass interference and one personal foul. Eliminate those mental mistakes and this team is for real.

Hawaii (-2) over Rice

2 weeks for Hawaii to prepare for this Rice team. Rice coming off a 10-7 win over Houston 2 weeks ago and Hawaii losing to FAU. However, Hawaii's run and shoot offense will be a lot for Rice to contend against. Last year Hawaii beat this team by 20, even though the warriors are not the greatest road team IMO they have the offensive firepower to simple out play this team. KEY defensively Hawaii must stop Thomas Lott.

Oregon St (-12) over New Mexico

Nothing like a little home cooking for the Beavers after 2 bad loses. This is the Beavers first home game, as they try to snap a two game losing streak. This is also the lobos first away game!

Oregon St has looked just poor running the ball in the last two games, something the coaching staff is trying to address. BUT New Mexico (1-1) won last week despite giving up 449 yards to Tech quarterback. That means the offense will be effective even without the presence of a running game. Anderson just cannot throw interceptions, which he is prone to do.

NM - McKamey accounted for 222 yards of total offense and accounted for three touchdowns, including two rushing against Texas Tech. Oregon St has had problems with rushing QB's in both games they played. However McKamey has throw a couple of picks and he is a sophomore. The beaver pressure should get to him and the defense should create turn-overs. Very important for Oregon to stop DonTrell Moore. Normally stopping the RB isn't the problem, it is when the play breaks down and the QB makes something happen. I think the home crowd will be a big factor in this game.

Colorado (-20) over North Texas

The buffalos have a great running game and will run all over NT. It is in colorado so the boys from texas will be winded after 2. Klatt (QB from Col) is not great but the Offensive Co has trimed the play book to make him more effective. North Texas doesn't have their best weapon from last year Cobb (RB) he is out. North Texas struggles to stop the run losing the KEY players from last years defense including all three linebackers. I think the Buffalos come out strong and by the time they let up AND THEY WILL (like vs Colorado st) the Green Machine will be out of gas (Unlike Colorado St because they were used to the altitude). With out a running game North Texas will be forced to pass and colorados defense can make plays.

Perhaps another game late in the day on Sat but this looks like the final play on the NCAA card! cheers

I know I said final card but after looking at this more and more....

La Tech (+30.5) vs Miami

Now way La tech should make a game of it but they have a unknown play-maker in Moats(RB). This bulldog team Will not get it done on defense but should be able to move the ball on offense. 30.5 is a lot of chalk. IMO the bulldogs can muster a few points and Miami is too sloppy on offense to spot a team this much. La Tech isn't afraid or in awe of this hurricane team, the bulldogs are in the stretch of playing @ Miami, @ Tenn and then @ Boise. The Hurricanes will face a much different Tech team than the one they beat 48-9 in the 2003 season opener. This team isn't a passing team anymore and they use the clock instead of throwing three plays then punting. The defense of Miami is banged up and they have some LB's with injuries, they will either start young players OR play with 5 DBs.
