Miami OH (-5) over Toledo W

Miami held UCF to just 88 yards rushing and 72 yards passing. The red hawk defense is quick and normally play aggressive. The best player is LB Terna Nande. There are about five players good enough to take this honor, but Nande is the best.

Toledo has come together as of late but IMO they are not a good defensive ball club at all. Allowing Central Michigan to throw for 385 and let them have a 100 yard rusher.

Toledo also sits in position where they have to travel this week to Miami and still have BIG MAC WEST conference games up coming (BG and No Ill). The red Hawks do not have that type pressure on them as they finish the season.

Toledo gets a lift from Trinity Dawson who should be returning from an injury. As long as Miami gets pressure on the left side (strength) of the line, the Rockets will have problems all night. The red hawks play well at home. The red hawk loses all came on the road. Looking at the schedule the hawks have played their tough teams already while the rockets aside from the first 2 games of the season haven't really been challenged. Both teams have the ability to score points but IMO the red hawks have the ability on defense.

Can't blame you for trying.

Excellent write up.

I like it Irish and couldn't agree more about the toledo 'D' as compared to the red hawk 'D'. Miami tonight!

Those turnovers with that rookie qb don't worry you?

Haven't picked a side myself.

A little worried about the way the line is moving. About the fact that Toledo may have been looking forward to this one during last weeks game as they lost at home as a fav last year in this matchup.

UAB (-18.5) over South Florida L

Hate this much chalk but looking at UAB they have the ability to score on offense and can generate turnovers on defense (14 take aways this season). UAB defense is allowing 28.6 points, 281 passing yards and 420 total yards per game. Injuries of late have really hurt this defense!!

The UAB offense is a fast scoring offense (averages 35.9 points and 408 yards), they love to throw the deep ball. Darrell Hackney is a QB in a LB body, he has the size to stand in the pocket with no fear and wait for route to develop.

UAB has played good opponents
@Florida State Lost 7-34
Memphis Won 35-28
@Cincinnati Won 30-27
@Mississippi State Won 27-13
TCU Won 41-25
@Tulane Lost 55-59

As you can see the Blazers play pretty well at home.

The SF Bulls have a tough time on Defense! Allowing 32.6 points and 378 yards per game and rank last in the conference with only five takeaways in six games. The coach in an effort to make something happen is going to give freshman an opportunity to play when he can tonight. The SF Bulls also rank last in penalties, with 10.5 per game, and 113th in penalty yards, with 82.83 yards per game!

UAB will have to get on them quick. Let the pressure force SF to make turnovers. If the Blazers get up, the crowd will be involved and SF will have a very tough time staying in this game. This team has lost to Army by 7 at home. IMO the Blazers have way too much offensive fire power!! THE KEY is the defense for UAB has to play with emotion and high energy. UAB has to get pressure, the SF QB will make stupid throws which should lead to turn-overs. BIG TV game, have to think UAB coaches will want a big score to show off for Bowl committees.

EDIT** Coming off the first real loss (not counting FSU, because they are out of UAB's league), this team should be focused and ready.

Wouldn't surprise me for these teams to score on their scripted drives. UAB likes to score quickly.

UAB/SF Under (62.5) L

Hey brother

Liked your call on Miami OH yesterday. Got lucky with the 1stQ spread (Toledo +.5)

I think UAB wollops them tonight. Lots of chalk but a powerful offense to make up for it.

Good job last night with miami!

I like your write up on UAB/SF. Haven't seen much of SF but UAB is solid offensively and with SF getting beat by army it seems like you're right on.

In another thread someone said that it is pouring there and will all day. Hopefully it slows down SF and not UAB.

Good luck!

I followed your lead and also took UAB and the under in a teaser. Hopefully it's a good night.

Duke (+31.5) over FSU
Chris Rix is running the show again and I am not very high on him as a QB. FSU best WR is out (skipping classes??) for this game and the RB is also out (shoulder). Not to say their replacements won't be successful. FSU has not beaten a team by 30 plus all season long. Duke has 1 loss of 30 plus points to Maryland.

Duke gained a season-high 423 yards last Saturday at Wake Forest. QB Mike Schneider has 7 touchdown passes since becoming the full-time No. 1 quarterback in the 4th game.

The blue devils have a pretty good pass defense (43rd nationally and 8th ACC). That defense take a hit with the loss of LB Aguanno (best Duke defense man). Still the Blue Devils will score 1 or 2 TD's and FSU should spot anyone 30.

Ohio St (+2) over Mich St
Only a play on this because Stanton looks to be out. This MSU team is not the same without him. OSU defense is tough enough to shut back-up QB Dowdell down. I expect a little emotional let down after such a devastating loss at Michigan! Ross is back from his suspension but the OSU offense is just BAD. Still special teams and kicker play might be enough to win this game.

North Carolina (+10) over VT
VT wining at GT last Thursday was a joke. The yellow jackets had them beat from 3 quarters then just simply crapped the bed! Now they go into UNC and spot 10? UNC has lost 1 home game to Louisville! Beat Miami, GT and NC St at home. The hokies are not good offensively and their bread and butter is defense and special teams. I expect a little let down after the Miami game but not 10 points. UNC hasn't played bad teams either they have a very difficult schedule with FSU, Miami, UVA, Utah, and Louisville! IMO the tarheels are battle tested and VT is not. VT has won 4 games by 10 or more (Florida A&M, Duke, Western Mich AND GT but I really don't think that should count) A steady dose of RB's and QB runs will be trouble for a VT team that had a lot of problems with the scrambling ability of GT.

Texas Tech (-31) over Baylor
Big play for me
Baylor never quits at home, as the A&M game showed. But they are still not a good defensive football team. Baylor on the road has lost by 31 or more all three times!
@UAB 14-56
@Texas 14-44
@Nebraska 27-59

I would say maybe UAB has the ability pass the ball Texas Tech does, MAYBE...the red raiders have had 3 home games.
TCU Won 70-35
Nebraska Won 70-10
Texas Lost 21-51

At home the raiders get into the offensive flow quicker and IMO they open it up quickly on this team. The A&M victory will have the TT boys ready and focused on the task at hand!

Troy (-13) over Florida Atlantic
Not much of a write up other than Troy has played some of the big boys in college football and their defense is truly good! FAU toughest opponent has been Hawaii or perhaps Mid Tenn St. IMO the Owls offense will be in big trouble.

Arizona St (-10.5) over Stanford
Big play for me
Stanford is a bad road team. UCLA should shut out anyone. I think the Arizona defense will be a tough challenge for Stanford not to mention the offense. IMO they rebound at home after the Cal loss! ASU's ends -- Ishmael Thrower and Kyle Caldwell (4.5 sacks). Against a terrible Stanford O-line the ASU defense will create pressure! Only problem is the strength of Stanford is their secondary still IMO Walter will be able to move the offense. The sun devils have to establish the run! UCLA was very successful running the ball.

Great start to the week Irish. Teasing UAB at -8-, can never (or very seldom) lay that many points, even at home. MSU a no play now for me with Stanton out. Like Duke getting that ton of points and lean to AZSt. GL with your plays tonight and the weekend :)

Good luck to you all this weekend

AR
UNC may come out flat but VT comes out flat every week away from blacksburg. Still not impressed with VT at all, they haven't shown me the ability to consistently sustain drives. I am however very impressed with UNC at home. the Miami game scares me because they might not get the blow by attitude from other teams they used to. Still I think the VT defense is great just like Miami. WITH the miami win, FANS will be out and the 12th man will be in effect.

Cheers
