i don't understand what the point is about constantly bashing people who have a "pay service"?

what is the point ?

i just read in the ncaa basketball forum that volfan sees no point in posting picks anymore, because of the constant questioning of his record. this guy has been a major contributor to madjack's for many years. he deserves respect. and he is just one example of pay service cappers getting hassled. there is also the constant bashing of fletcher, raymond, k.c. wolf & thunder to name a few. last week in the nfl forum, kc wolf picked the chiefs. since the chiefs lost, posters took it upon themselves to ridicule & mock him on this pick. even telling him that they hoped that this pick wasn't given to his paying customers. these remarks to kc were uncalled for, because like volfan, kc has been with madjacks for a few years & has given out plenty of plays that won. he too deserves our respect.

who cares if people start a pay service. it's nobody's business. as far as i know, nobody has been appointed an internet cop to make sure that posters who have pay services are doing the right thing. imo, it a big plus if these guys want to share their opinion on games. they are putting themselves & their reputation out on the line.

it is pretty simple to get along with people here. posters should stay out of other peoples threads if they are going to bash. keep your negative comments to yourself. stop acting like your doing people a favor by "exposing" a capper. people will see, without anybody's help that the capper is not doing well.

the constant bashing of these guys & other posters who are nice enough to share their opinion on games is hurting madjack's & serves no purpose.

and to answer a question you might have. no, i don't know any of these guys nor am i a customer of any of their services.

i welcome any response. because maybe i am missing something.

AR182,
I agree 100%. I never saw any point in bashing, heck NOBODY wins all the time. There are a few times however when some loudmouth chestpounder that talks smack in his posts loses and gets what he deserves...even at that I'd never respond negatively myself to his post.
gl to ya,
TT

Agree with everything you said -- there is absolutely nothing wrong with employing a pay service -- is it really any different than using a investment advisor to help you with your stock portfolio?

What is important in both cases is that you do your homework and be very, very careful with who you select.

Ari, here is what your are missing --

Those responsible for bashing are either...

(A) People with MAJOR self-respect issues
(B) Bookies, or
(C) Children

I only have a use for one of the three, and I don't need them to say anything, just need them to pay me.:) :)

Not that I bash anyone in their threads or will I ever....

but these people are in a sh*t business

even if they are good people they are still in a sh*t business

I'm not going to go down the list of businesses and professions that I think are 90%+ full of rats, I don't want to offend many of the posters in here. In those professions as well, one will be looked upon poorly, no matter what their character.

As I have said elsewhere in the past, if my barrel of apples is 90% bad, I'm sorry, but I'm throwing the whole barrel out.

The sh*t business they are in brings along with it some bad elements, such as constant bashing.

Don't feel for them. It is to their advantage to continue to post here. And they will continue to breath (and collect $$) while here. If it was so aweful for them, they wouldn't be here.

There also exist a bit of jealousy I think from others in the forum.

There also exists people with too much time on their hands. Time that could be used to improve their own abilities, not wasted on idle posts that serve no purpose.

There also exists the fact that many of these guys at one time were part of a crew that grew together here and experienced many of the same up's and down's with the rest of the gamblers in the forum. When they used to "put their pants on the same way" as everyone else in the forum. Now they are pay. This will bring out anger in many.

Just my opinion

I just want to get better

I'm here to learn and pick up things I miss.

As long as the bookies lose and people improve

Completely agree AR. This is getting out of hand. Volfan is an excellent capper IME-In My Experience- and I appreciate the $ made from coattailing him. Just can't understand why ppl bash Free Picks or Pay Services if it doesn't affect them. Everyone wants to beat the books, but nobody wants the risk involved. This is a major loss.

Agree. And did offer a idea a while ago to give these folks there own little spot. Call it Pay Services. Free Picks. For those who are so turned off by a pay service. It easy just dont go and look at there picks. There would be no questons by old and new alike. And it would not be a spot on how to contact them or get there services as JacK does not allow that.

pay services

I agree with everything you said AR 182. They have done a great job by me and shown me respect as well. These people deserve a lot of respect because they have done well and made a lot of money for MJ'ers over the years.

However, I have to agree with Intense Operator as well, it is a shitty business to be in and I feel sorry for anyone who decides to pay for picks, they'd be better off getting a labotomy. If the service is winning I'm sure their clients praise them and if they are losing I am sure their clients are very upset.

However, I understand why they want to set up a pay service. I saw someone getting mad at Thunder for emailing him about his service when Thunder went out and bought a bulk list of emails for sollicitation purposes, something like that. This is absurd, do you know how much spam I receive daily in my hotmail account - I just delete it or block it, I don't go yelling at the corporation or person that sent it to me.

I have not seen them come here and try to tout their service and I don't think Jack would allow that either. They come here to help other MJers.

You have to take into consideration that this is a capitalistic society - so more power to them for wanting to go out and to make a few extra bucks on the side. They put a lot of time into capping these games so why not try to make some money on the side. I really get sick of people bashing them.

There will always be those suckers out there wanting to pay for the lock of the week, lock of the year, etc.

Kneifl, first off that was me who complained about the e-mails and please understand you only have half the story in your above post, I was upset about him getting my PERSONAL e-mail address that only a few people have and I wanted to know where he got it, after my e-mails to him went unanswered I posted about it here, I too get tons of junk in my other e-mails and I didn't want that address gettin poluted as well, I hope you can see my side of that.

As far a people going pay, I think it's a case of EVERYBODY all of the suddeen wanting to go pay, hell I work for a service, the name of which has NEVER been posted here, the problem is these people make a huge announcement that they are going pay and then continue to post here simply to get business, Jack has a policy about not allowing you to post a link unless you pay for advertisment, AMEN, however I think he should take it a step further and make you change your positng ID as well, if your not simply coming to drum up business then you won't mind this, if you are "Coming to help" as everyone always claims then you won't mind either because you will soon build up a following of people to "help". Being a service is not easy, and it is very hard to make any real money at it, anyone who is honest will tell you that, alot find this out soon enough. As far as poeple who bash them go, well I understnad their frustration, but keep in mind this is what the "service poster" wants, attention. There is no such thing as bad publicity.

I agree AR. I don't have a problem with it. To each their own. Personally, I do not like the fact that they are pay because I am a cheap Ba$tard but I do like to see their posts here. And if I get a tip or two off of them what do I care if it is a form of advertising or not.

Very well put Ar. I just can't understand going into someone elses thread and bashing the person for a loss. It's funny but I'll bet the one's who are bashing the guys who have gone pay look for their posts first so they can get their plays. An old saying my Mother taught me might serve this forum well. "If you don't have anything nice to say to or about someone , don't say anything at all." ;) GLTA

"the bunker"
i think

i think

ar1 made a good point....and i generally agree.....i`ve never flamed anyone nor do i ever intend to....

the only pay guy on here that i`m actually familiar with is fletcher.....and the guy`s a peach....he`s helped me obtain info(boxing stuff in vegas) that`s helped with my boxing selections...he`s always willing to help and this forum wouldn`t seem the same without him...

but,i think that operator made an even better point....regarding these guys, that made their bones ,in part, on this forum....and that derive a good portion of their clientele from this forum.... i doubt that they are going anywhere....if they`re smart...

i doubt that many are on here just to magnanimously "help" guys....we all have ego`s.....some have ridiculous ego`s and measure themselves on the number of hits their threads get....that`s pretty funny to me...it`s nice to get some feedback..but sometimes it has a "lord of the flies" feel to it......the comraderie`s another part........a bunch of lonely ex jocks that are past their prime and don`t get that competitive "fix"that we miss so much....not many things feel as good as the companionshiip(for lack of a better word)that you feel with your teammates when accomplish something together(win a championship, pull a big upset....cornhole the man on a big wager)

this place is like an amusement park for guys like us...

sorry for rambling....

my point is that if guys want to go payfer, that`s their business....if you pay for `em,or glom them out of a guy`s thread,it`s on you....

wouldn`t most guys on here feel like wussy`s for taking a guy`s plays and then crying about it because it loses?

maybe not....not nowadays....with people scalding themselves with hot coffee and then suing the merchant......eating fattening foods and suing the restaurant....going on mass-murder sprees and then blaming hollywood or anybody else for their own poor choices and behavior.....

it `s the thing to do nowadays....passing the buck is the order of the day
