everyone played games growing up....my group of friends always played backyard pickup games during the day, but come nighttime we would always be doing different things....

my favorites:

Dingdongditch- im sure everyone has diffferent names for it, but its when you go up and knock on nieghbors doors and run like forrest gump outta there...

kick the can- name fits well...you have too capture the other team and take em too your base. If someone from your team kicks the enemy pop can over all of the captured ppl were set free then.

I started thinkin about all of that stuff earlier. Man I miss that life? Am I the only one who would go back too jrhigh/highschool in a heartbeat! Guess havin a daughter of my own is startin too make me feel old. I hope my kids have half of the fun I did with my friends. I am not that far removed from graduating college, but man even my generation still played outside and had fun and got dirty. This generation is kinda sad unfortunantely.

Just curious too see if anyone else misses parts of growin up and has good memories of doing dumb shit with friends.

We played a long list of games and there were over 12 of us in the neighborhood all within a couple years of each other.

Bicycle freeze tag.

War (tent poles and bottle rockers... whistler chasers were the keep sake of everyone. They were for the rich kids, lol along with roman candles.)

Fort. When the high school kids got trans ams, they gave us their fort. It was a log cabin with a tin roof. It was awesome. We even had weekly dues for all the candy and cokes.

Smear the non politically correct term. If you threw the ball before getting tackled it was an all out ass whipping.

Zip lines. Buddy's dad on a construction company and we had a mountain side to play on. We made zip lines that were over 200 ft. Was awesome.

Bullock's Apple farm. We'd have one person go to the house to ask for a drink out of the hose, and the rest of us would shake the shit out of their apples, peach, and plum trees a round back. These were the days when your parents wouldn;t let you in the house until dark on Saturdays...

Yeah, good times...

There's a million games we made up but those were my favorite.

Whip involves a bullwhip in the hands of one player. Turn twin mattress on side as barrier. Others stormed the fort to take control of the whip. Many a child cried from that game..... Lol

Spread eagle had 2 ways ton lose. racquetball thrown against wall.if the ball was caught off the rebound before it bounced, then the thrower had to stand spread eagle facing wall and each participant would throw ball at him. If a participant dropped the ball, then he would stand spread-eagle and take the blows

We did too. Used a chair as the strike zone. The key was to bend the pitch to where it was unhittable in the hitting zone, but struck the arm of the chair behind the batter.

Damn wish we would have thought of that, would have saved a lot of arguements. We cheated a little though as we would put a little duct tape on the ball so we could throw it harder and hit it further. Right field was short so we built a plywood wall about 10 feet tall, only green paint we had was lime green:mj07: The lime green monster. Damn we had fun out there.

We played regular seasonal sports.

Also played smear the queer, wiffleball homerun derby (duct taped ball and loaded bats) , and walnut wars. We would go fishing and hiking a lot too. Also made a lot of prank phone calls. I still remember our favorite victim; a lady named Maude Lewis, haha!!

There were a lot of kids that were my age where I grew up in Brooklkyn....From age of about 10-15,16 we played games in the neighborhood that most kids played....

Punch Ball, stcik ball, slap ball, whiffle ball, & 2 hand-touch football in the street....

Stoop ball against one of the many stoops that were in our neighborhood....

Using a wall to one of the buildings in the neighborhood we played....Johnny on the pony (mostly at night), hand ball, chinese hand ball, or pitched either pennies, nickles, dimes or quarters to see who could pitch the coin underhand closest to the wall....

One game that we played that was unique to the type of neighborhood where I grew up was to play a game against the wall of a 6 story ap't. house....we would take a rubber ball & throw it against the wall of the different floors of the building & catch it before it hit the sidewalk....So we would start at the basement & work our way all the way up to the 6th floor & then back down the wall....If you didn't catch the ball before it hit the sidewalk you would have to start over again....It was a good way of building up arm strength....

At night we would either play johnny on the pony or 'ring a leeveo"....

From about 16-28,29 I hung out in a neighborhood park with some of the same guys & we would play touch football, half-court or full court basketball or softball....& gamble....Occasionally one of us would try hitting on the young moms who took their kids to the park....& sometimes we got lucky....

Wish I could go back in time....
