Personally, for the first series--with Sagan--I had read a few of his books and was just
started to have a great fascination with science; a fascination that remains but has dampened
due to a greater understanding of the politics and other nasty ingredients that can go into
scientific research and, certainly, into the media, mainstream or otherwise.
More to the point--the series--I suppose I was young enough, inquisitive enough, and ignorant
enough (as in uninformed) to really appreciate the original series. I have the first 6 or 7 of the new
one but have only watched the first two. I think it was okay. Perhaps I wasn't in the mood, or
was expecting too much. Anybody who needs to be coaxed into bewilderment and fascination
of this reality we inhabit must get out even less than I do, and I get the impression that such might
be the target audience. That's okay. The younger generation probably needs something to get
their minds off of consumer goods, gaming, other forms of media, and whatever else might be
proffered to the up-and-coming potential anarchists; not just for you psychos down South but
even up here in never-never-warm-land. Mr.Digression. Point is, the original was good for me at
the time...the new series (just two, so far) seems a waste of my time.
Just curious what others think.
Unusual in most venues. Still here after 13 years, though. Time teleports.
