As a disclaimer, I will say that I'm a registered Democrat who is moderate on economic and foreign policy issues and liberal on social issues.

Now that this is clear, I can say that George W Bush is not an idiot. No, he is clearly dangerous. Whether or not he fits the cognitive or emotional definitions of idiocy or pathology are insignificant now. He is the leader of the free world. A leader of the free world who can possibly be considered an idiot is dangerous.

A religious zealot, he is led by prophecy. Combined with an ego as big as the state of Texas, he has clearly decided that he is important enough to act out the Book of Revelations. An incredible leap from a leader who ran a baseball team into the ground.

As it relates to this board, the good ole boy has helped to create a political environment which accentuates the agenda of the religious right. Believe me, I'm a devout Methodist. Religion helps me to stay grounded and, ironically, it helps me realize that those who Bible thump social policy in the name of Jesus Christ are completely full of shit.

Thou shalt not gamble on a computer with people in other countries????

I don't remember that one in Sunday School.

Still, I am so happy that some others who feel they are clearly morally superior to the rest of us include online gambling in their long, long, long list of no no's.

Here's a few more that they should consider with the same rationale.

Smoking

Clearly not good for you. Oops, tobacco farmers.

Alcohol

Clearly dangerous if abused. Oops, Anheiser Busch and the city of Milwaukee.

Shopping

Clearly dangers to compulsive shoppers. Oops, capitalism.

Sex

Clearly dangerous for those who engage in sex against their will. Oops, they are here because of sex.

The Sun

Clearly dangerous if over-exposed or if it is stared at for a decent period of time. Oops, we need the sun to live.

Trees

Clearly dangerous in high winds. Oops, we need plant life to breathe.

Our Constitutional Rights

Clearly dangerous if........ well, I don't know?
Oops, clearly dangerous if Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed, Dick Cheney and our friend in the White House disagree.

Oh well, if it all shuts down, we'll just go back to the bookies and engage in illegal activities. See you all in jail, my friends! We'll play poker and make a cigarette a dime.

"If you rip it in half, you don't have two nickels, Martini, you have shit"

don`t mess with the clintons.....i fully expect obama to fade in the sunset in the near future...

I heard middle of Feb, Obama the Great will have a massive press conference on the spot in Springfield, Il, (not the Simpsons home town), were President Lincoln announced his candidacy. Our own Dicky Durbin is trying very actively to move up our state's convention date for the Great One's running. Every freaking minority in this town has embraced this Carribean man as their own, and I'll get to hear all the chirping threw the election.

the manchurian candidate?.....

i think the jigs up when people realize he isn`t tiger woods.....

Although I should probably be offended somehow by this, I just can't be. That's just funny stuff, gw.

However, don't discount the possibility of Nike doing more "I am Tiger Woods" commercials, starring, well, you guessed it.

How was that Gov. of Texas elected? What credentials did he have? I hope we don't elect another one of them.

stevie....

putting your hatred of bush aside....

history has shown that governors have been more electable than senators (last one was jfk) because running a state is a training ground for running a country. now that doesn't mean they will become a good president...but it appears that governorship is a stepping stone for the presidency.

Well

at least the spawn of Lucifer is in big trouble when it comes to the Democratic populous. My gf has stated she would definitely take the man over the lady with horns. If I can do so humorously, I'm going to see what the rest of the females( and one Mexican male in law) in her family think. Good opportunity for some rib jabbing with this ironic dilema ahead!

I went with the gf to see Obama speak at a rally a couple years back. She's a nurse and he was trying to bring support for them unionizing. Nothing has come of it to this point but he was a phenomenal presence. Too bad I like my men a little darker skinned.

At the end of the day, I think they will hurt each other. Might be good to see what Lucifer digs up on Obama.

fla, I'm interested in your comments about Bush being "led by prophecy" and "acting out the book of Revelation". Can you expand on that? I'll be interested in your scriptural references.

Obama, Hillary, Kerry, Gore all equal no chance in heck of winning. Edwards might have a shot. Democrats, wake the hell up and put up a candidate that has a chance of winning, not an automatic go against for the majority of the country.

SixFive:

"The majority of Americans" and "the majority of Americans actively involved prior to 2006 in the system" are different animals.

The Republican nominee will be McCain, who I really do respect on a majority of issues. If there are two Republicans who I may consider for president, they would be McCain and Colin Powell.

I should be thanking GW actually. Assuming we get out of the next two years alive and well, the Republicans will not stand a chance. George is stubborn, he will not change, and things will just get worse in the next 22 months. Yippee! A Dem in the White House but many more Americans lost. No victory at all.

It's been well documented that GW is a born-again Christian who relies on "faith" for important decisions. Of course, these decisions have nothing to do with some form of econimic equality that any historical account of Jesus Christ would verify as one of his main tenants. GW just assumes, I suppose, that a REAL leader such as the Almighty would be in favor of the increasing the profit margins of major oil companies and Haliburton. After all, they weren't around way back when.

No, GW skips over this to address the good vs. evil apocalyptic scenario of the Rapture. 'They are evil, we are chosen'. Osama Bin Laden heads 9/11, we should sure as hell have commited our resources to not only drive the Taliban out of Afghanistan, but to also kill OBL. Is this so freaking difficult to realize besides those straggling neo-Cons shaking their heads in blind affirmation at 'The Decider'?

Oh yeah, and FOX news. Forgot about them.

They are fair and balanced. Charlize Theron is ugly, the New York Yankees have a small payroll, and Eric Clapton can't play the guitar at all.

Did you notice that all you have respect for is a Southerner? What did Hillary, Obama, Gore, Kerry do to you that you just deny them? If you think Kerry would have done this bad of job if he won your crazy. Hillary is married to one of the most successful presidents in my lifetime. Yes, what he did in office was dispicable but 65 percent of americans get divorice and im sure some of them do the same thing. Gore was part of a presidency that was involved in one of the most successful presidency in my lifetime. Six, i think you are a good guy and i wish we never had a run in but this type of thinking is confusing to me. I can see obama because to me he needs more experience but the others to just get pushed to the side when all of them do things for the people instead of a select few makes it mind boggling to me. Now, me i do like Edwards because he is a working guys guy but to me a lot of this is about a look and he looks to weak. Just frail and small and the country will never elect him. I just wish you Southerners would realize you are being played a fool. Im not saying my party is this great thing because they suck too but the guys your people support do nothing for the working man but try to cut their throats.

What exactly did Clinton do in his presidency other than happen to be elected right before an upturn in the economy driven by the internet boom and opening of China and Eastern Europe? What were the foreign policy wonders he pulled off? Ignoring the growing danger of Islamic terrorism and the attacks on the US - Somolia, Trade Center I, Kobar Towers, African Embassies, USS Cole? Wait, no he got Isreal and the Palestinians to kiss and make up and he stopped N Korea and Pakistan from developing nukes. Talk about someone who took credit for the current state of affairs and then left the next guy holding the bag...Clinton takes the cake.

Surely the complete lack of response to direct terrorist attacks on the US and allowing N Korea and Pakistan to develop nukes in no way sowed the seeds of what we are now dealing with.

I may be no fan of Bush, but at least I can open my eyes and see that our leaders have been lacking for a long, long time.

What exactly is the one policy Clinton inacted that you think makes him the most successful president of our lifetime?
