thing you have done in public as an adult. (Sober)
I am sure we all have a good story from our past..
I met up with an old friend and we compared notes....this one we still both laughed hard about even though it happened in 1991.
My friend Dave and myself, were helping man a booth at the Oklahoma State Fair for a mutual friend that owned a Sporting Good Store.
The hours were brutal and the fair lasted 2 weeks. When it was open at 9 am and closed at 10-11pm we were pretty much there.
After about a week and a half of non-stop public, we were getting punch drunk.
Across from our booth was an ongoing pitch for a super duper automobile wax.
The pitchman would get a crowd, wash and wax a segment of a car hood, and at the finale after much fanfare; he would sprinkle lighter fluid, and set the segment of the hood on fire.
As the fire was burning he would pitch his product.
The fire lasted about a minute or so.
When the fire went out, he would brag how the wax job held up and you need this product..
Day in, day out we kinda watched this side show.
The 12th day of the fair I had a brainstorm...
Brought a few things from home for the next day performance.
We waited for our moment, moved to the front of the crowd, and when he lit the fire, from behind our backs, we produced long skewers with hot dogs on them and held them over the fire.
Talk about bringing down the house....this veteran of selling wax products lost it...laughed so hard he had to stop and catch his breath.
Afterwards he came to our booth and told us..."Boys, my boss is doing this show tomorrow at noon. Got anymore hotdogs?"
Next day the boss probably wondered why most of his staff was there watching his pitch....
so were we....:s4:
