What is the difference

between a tax and a service charge, I live in the state of Missouri, and several years ago we passed what is called the "Hancock Admendment" which gives voters the right to pass taxes, well I got by license plate renewal notice and now there is a $7.00 service fee for any license renewed in a state office building what the hell is this about, they have raised our hunting and fishing license without a vote, drivers license without a vote, God knows what else but a service fee for plate renewal bullshit! any of you guys have this in other states? just wondering, I know it's only 7 bucks but 7 bucks here, 7 bucks there and then to get treated like crap in these offices is really pissing me off. guess I just had to vent.

COMMENTS: Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world, had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
